I haven't tried anything else, but the tacos are the best I have ever had outside Mexico. When I bring people from out of town to El Campeon, they are blown away. Some gringo locals have strangely never been there, which is baffling to me.. More

This is truly the best mexican food I've ever found in a restaurant. This little hole in the wall has a great variety of the typical mexican dishes. They serve generous portions at economical prices. Everything tastes like homemade. Please stop by when you are in the San Juan Capistrano area, you won't be disappointed. More

This is the real deal. La carniceria serves authentic meat dishes including lengua and cabeza, but the less-risky meats are awesome too. They also have the best and biggest selection of pan dulce and jarritos. You know this is the real deal because all the immigrant workers pack the place and most employees there don't speak English. If you're the type that likes to find the "hole in the wall" place that serves good food, this restaurant is for you. This place serves authentic Mexican food. The beans and rice taste just like homemade and my favorite items are the carnitas tacos, sopes, and tortas. My husband loves the chicken mole. The prices can't be beat. If... More
