Fun fun restaurant, with great atmosphere. Great vintage bar and restaurant with equally good food. Entertaining, friendly and efficient staff. Overall, really worth the visit for a place with lots of atmosphere. Highly recommend this fun place! Worth the wait in line, staff keeps the place moving, so even the wait is fun! Delicious ribs too! More

It's simple, historic and not posh, but this is why it's so good. Interesting building in the classic category of places you'd probably walk past but contains an absolute treasure. Don't be put off with the reviews below about it being in a naff bit of town, or looking dowdy. That's the whole point, it's old (I bet they missed... More

I LOVE this place. It's a little unconventional, granted. It's housed in an old immigrant-worker hotel, quite rustic, entirely charming. You enter through the bar and take a number. You order a drink and when they call your number, you give them your name and order off the menu on the bar wall. Then you wait in the bar some... More

I don't get it. It's pretty much of a dive bar in down town San Jose. Years ago it was popular with cops. I hear the food is good. I just could not get past the location and appearance to actually eat there. More

Don't even step foot in here if you're the least bit pretentious. Go here to eat lip-smacking ribs, bathe in the bbq sauce, and drink to your heart's content with reaL people. The food is incredible. Show up early on Sharks game night -- hardLY any room to move right before the game, but great vibe and BaRtenders knOw how... More

Upon arriving at Henry's Hi-Life one might think that they have made a bad decision. The building appears old and a bit dangerous from the outside. When you go through the door you are in a bar. The menu is written on a small chalk board on the wall of the bar and is limited in choices. When you are... More

My wife & I enjoyed out night at Henry's. Showed up at 6:15, very crowded. We were about to say "forget it," then a parking space right in front was open and we could not pass it up. We took a number, waited 5 minutes, they called our number and took our order. Ordered a glass of wine, waited about... More

We dined here (as did many other skating fans) during a break from the US Figure Skating Championship. Orders were taken while we waited in line to be seated which was appreciated given our limited time to eat. As others have stated, simplicity rules and the limited menu offerings are done extremely well. My ribs were incredibly tender and tasty.... More

I'm glad this place is still around. They still serve a simple, down home meal that will satisfy most palletes, steaks, ribs, chicken, pork, fish, fettuccine, salads, sandwiches and even prime rib on Friday and Saturday. Don't let anyone tell you it's for the working man only. It's a place for anyone who just wants to kick back, let their... More
