We dined early at Spasso on Laurel St, situated among a number of other Italian restaurants. The food was quite good, ample in portion size and the service good. We tried two salads -- the Mista and the cabbage. Both are large enough to share and the warm cabbage salad is almost a meal in itself. I had the black... More

lost of noise for very little food quality. The food is at best average, and I have been here a few times now, and every time I have had my arm twisted.

I'd had Italian dinners the two evenings before, so I wasn't really looking to a third; however, this was a pleasant surprise for both the service and the food. We shared an appetizer sampler for the group and it had a decent selection with spring rolls, bruschetta, fried calamari, and salad. I had the spinach ravioli which was exactly what... More

We love Spasso. The small plates are delicious and four or five of them make a great meal with wine and a split dessert (excellent cheesecake). Their filet mignon is cooked just right and lean. The black pepper fettuccine is my husband's favorite. Decent wine list. Excellent mixed drinks. Friendly wait staff.

The Cask is a wine bar and restaurant across the street from Spasso, and they share the same owner. They bill it as a wine and cheese bar. While both the wine menu and the cheese menu have an nice selection, there are also some excellent burgers, appetizers, and salads. My wife and I stopped by for lunch during the... More

It was refreshing to come to this restaurant for the first time and feel truly welcome. From the greeting by the hostess, to the attentiveness of the bartender, it was very pleasant. Food was very good and prices reasonable. Would definitely return -- great combination of both service and hospitality.

spasso has the best steak, the demi sauce was delightful, the olive oil for bread dipping is out of this world delicious! Love the mushroom bruschetta, as well as the sliders. What makes this restaurant stand out to us is the awesome service. Wait staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgable about the menu as well as the wine list. Quality... More

Had a nice meal hear with colleagues. Nice appetizers and service with decent wine. Ambience is open and friendly, but not quite as polished as some other places. Still a very nice menu with all the traditional fare and some other specials.

A hidden gem in a downtown San Carlos. I recently visited family in Belmont and they raved about Spasso. I instantly knew I had to go try it. We made reservations and we were promptly seated. My family has eaten at this restaurant many times so everyone knew them when we arrived. Our server Eddie was great! He gave us... More

Since the San Francisco Flower Show moved down to San Mateo, we have been searching for a place to have a drink and a good meal after the show. I think we found it. The food was good and reasonably priced and the wine list OK. It was a bit noisy on an early Friday evening as there were several... More
