From the pedigree of Chez Panisse, Olivietto brings inventive Italian cuisine to the corner spot. Nice ambiance. Great food. A little overpriced, but a great date place.

Great food, but the portions can be off sometimes. You may get a normal portion, or a minuscule serving or too much food. Anyone's guess.

As a long time resident of the neighborhood, I've seen many developments at Market Hall. Oliveto's Cafe is a lovely place for breakfast, coffee, and chat with friends. The breakfast pizza is great (add prosciutto) and now they will serve it (on weekends, at least) until noon. Service can be spotty - but on our last visit, our server was...

We had our wine and food in the cafe/bar area of restaurant. Did not want the fuss of a restaurant dinner (thanks to having had a late lunch, timezone differences and jet lag). We were looking for inventive light fare choices and great wine options - Oliveto Cafe gave us all that and more. It has now become our go...

Perfect location for a BART traveler. Excellent appetizer (something with mushrooms) and very good pasta with bolognese sauce. Would go again. (I'm a tough rater, so don't take a 4 1/2 star rating as criticism.)

We...

Great food and wine, very good service. Always creative food. The Bolognese sauce is incredible but so are the other pastas and seafood. Excellent restaurant.

I would actually give 4.5 of 5 if I could. I think this is a very solid restaurant and well located. Service isn't always the best or timely but the food is pretty darn good most of the time. This is a place that has been around a lot of years and keeps a following.

This restaurant is right above the wonderful market in the Rockridge area of Oakland (across the street from the Rockridge BART station). The dishes are Italian and very tasty. It was the first restaurant (many years ago) where I found the olive oil on the table with the little plate and bread. Thought it was neat then, too.

This is my third visit to Oliveto, and each time I like it a little less. The staff were very friendly, but not as attentive as other restaurants in this price range. Our water glasses were filled often, but the waitress disappeared for long periods of time.
The beer and vodka gimlet we started with were good.
Appetizers didn't live...
