Dining options: Dinner, Reservations, After-hours
Dining style: Casual Elegant
Neighbourhood: Central L.A
Cross street: Franklin Avenue
Transit: Metro Red Line to Hollywood & Highland. Walk west down Hollywood Blvd turn right on Orange and cross at the light on Franklin. Once you cross at the light go left and turn right at sycamore going up the hill. It is a very steep hill so walking in dress shoes or in the dark are not recommended. We suggest calling a cab at the bottom of the hill.
Description: Our new menu is AMAZING! Chef Brock serves Asian Inspired dishes. You have to taste our Truffle Hamachi, Kurobuta Pork Carnitas, Forbidden Rice Roll, and Wagyu Steak on a Himalayan Salt Plate. We have an extensive Sushi list with a variety of Specialty Rolls. Our Lounge serves fresh muddled cocktails, full liquor, sake, & wine list. YAMASHIRO is a mountain palace perched in the Hollywood Hills with the BEST VIEW of LA. YAMASHIRO has been family owned and operated since 1948. This is our home. We hope you join us. We would love to provide a memorable culinary experience. Our interior garden court is the perfect setting for weddings or dining al fresco. It is consistently manicured, complete with Koi pond and cascade. During the summer months, stroll through or expansive exterior gardens, down a corridor of stairs, to the PAGODA BAR. The bar is built above our pool with a pagoda as the central design element. With the expansive view of LA and artisanal cocktails.

Yamashiro has an amazing view above Hollywood and this is the draw. The food was fine, as in fine, it will do, not amazing really, the price point medium high. I took 3 business associates for dinner on a Wednesday night and they were moderately busy. But the person who took my reservation over the phone had a bit of... More

My date-night of choice is the delicious Yamashiro, a Cal-Asian fusion restaurant with a panoramic view of LA and not a bad seat in the house. You can have unique sushi rolls at competitive prices or a top-notch steak. I recommend trying the Darth Vader Roll and a glass of the not-always-easy-to-find MacMurray Ranch Pinot Noir. I also love the... More

We didn’t like it at all, it’s not traditional japanese food, is a mix of modern fusion cousine, not bad but “special”. Very noisy and a little overpriced. The view is stunning! More

We stayed at the hotel beside the Yamashiro and walked up, which was very convenient. I ordered the Darth Vader Roll which was amazing, I posted the picture. We sat beside the actor dylan bruno, which was pretty cool, my wife recognized him. Anyway they gave us a window view of the city which we requested, we arrived at 6:30... More

The view is great and the restaurant looks great. Sushi are average but the cuisine is on the good side. I'd say go for the cuisine and not the sushi. More

I absolutely love Yamashiro's - and always make a reservation, whenever I'm in LA. Last week, my husband and I went for my birthday, and it was still fabulous as ever! The view is excellent, the service - down to the valet - is perfect, and the sushi is amazing! We had the black forbidden rice roll (spicy tuna) and... More

We went here for friends birthday dinner while on holiday in LA. We were expecting swanky and was not dissapointed! We drove to the Restaurant, where there is a valet service which makes you feel all posh!! The atmosphere was relaxed and not at all stuffy. I'm not a fish/seafood eater so was a little aprehensive on what the meat... More
