It might not look like much from the outside but this friendly little spot in Silver Lake is up there with the best in authentic Mexican grub. Aside from your omnipresent burritos and tacos there's a wealth of regional dishes. Our main courses (entres) were first class and the flan for dessert was superb. Our host was extremely friendly and... More

Alegria is a Mexican Restaurant with a menu that offers interesting dishes, not just the usual tacos, burritos and enchiladas. The choice is large and varied. The prices are very reasonable. The soups are good and the mole sauce is delicious. There are fruit drinks made fresh and excellent Mexican coffee. The staff is helpful and knowledgable. We have been... More

So so so good. Fresh ingredients. Excellent Service. Big burritos. Very good guac. Tasty Veggie options. Yummy horchata... Mmm, i miss it already, as I travel SE Asia, far from this good mexican food. More

This is the most wonderful place for fresh ingredients and imaginative Mexican fare. The fish tacos are my favorite. There is often a line outside, but it's definitely worth the wait. The owner presides and waits on tables. Great value, and they recently started accepting credit cards! More

okay, we live pretty close (1-1/2 miles away), so there's the convenience factor, but, having said that, it is worth a detour. the fish tacos at alegria are hard to beat; actually, the whole menu contains some interesting choices. there's no alcohol license, but the fruit drinks (especially, the basil-mint lemonade) is refreshing - you won't miss not having a... This authentic mexican restaurant is made for foodies. Fresh and pure California! I am from the deep south and when I moved out here recently, I couldn't wait to try this type of food at this type of place. Every time I eat here, I am expecting Guy Fieiri to walk in here filming an episode of Diners, Drive-ins, and... More

A cozy neighborhood restaurant. Guacamole starter was freshly made with home-made chips. The mahi-mahi fish enchiladas were delicious, dressed with a freshly made Veracruz sauce. The Budin Alegria was a sort of cross between chilaquiles and lasagna, tasty and very original. Resonably priced for well-prepared home-style cooking. Good friendly service too. Note: BYO if you want beer/wine. They are unlicensed. More

Never been a fan of this place. Nothing strikes me at all. But many friends love it, maybe I am missing something. More
