Great home cooking at reasonable prices. Hands down the best chicken fried steak in town. Huge portions! If you go for breakfast your chicken fried steak will be on one plate, your eggs and hash browns on another and your biscuits and gravy on another. It's enough for two, but somehow I always manage to eat it by myself. More

This is one of those places that make you feel like you're at home...back in Montana! Genuine diner fare. Great folks, great food. More

Just off of hwy. 99 and in northern Bakersfield, the knotty pine cafe is a great spot to grab a low priced, home cooked meal. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and have a large menu to choose from. Although they seem to be riding the tail of black bear diner, they even have a black bear on their menu,... More

I read about this place on the web and it was the best meal I had on a cross country trip. I got there about 7:30am on a Tuesday. The place was pretty crowded, but I sat at the counter and was served immediately. I was also asked what I wanted immediately, at which point I grabbed the menu, but... More

Were my expectations too high? Was it the end of the life cycle of their cooking oil? Was it time to give the griddle top a thorough cleaning? Sunday morning, 8:30 AM several people waiting to be seated so we opted to take seats at the counter which turned out to be a mistake. Our server apparently had establishment-wide responsibilities,... More

There was nothing spectacular about the food here, though it was fine. Good straight ahead breakfasts, bigt portions. The atmosphere is great, it definitely has that Kozy Kitschen feeling (mispelling intentional). Corny but nice. the service was also excellent, but since my reviews are food-driven, I still give it an average rating. Better than other breakfast places in town, but... More

A lot of food. If you want good breakfast in BFL this is the place. It is located off the beaten path. You will need GPS to get there. Once there the place is old and makes you feel like you stepped into an old western movie. Coffee is always hot. Every order on the menu could feed two people.... More

This is the epitome of a family-style restaurant. The servers are wonderful and the food is tasty. We ate lunch there after arriving in Bakersfield for a business trip, as it is close to the airport. We sat at the counter and had great service. It is definitely "country cooking" at its best. Many locals were there and everyone knew... More
