Description: About Us: The House at Secret Garden, a Casual American Eatery located under the shadow of South Mountain. Housed in a restored 1929 Spanish mansion, the restaurant offers a lively, modern and sophisticated atmosphere. A fresh, local menu was designed for dinner with favorites such as Sweet Potato Planks, Smoked Brisket Sandwiches, Shrimp and Grits, and Hand Made Seasonal Pastas. Guests can dine in the barrel-ceilinged dining room, enjoy small bites on the patio, or cocktails under the sprawling carob tree.

We had a enjoyable evening at "The House". The first impressions walking in from the back parking lot is not good. The "stylish barn" & surrounding areas are eyesores....badly in need of paint & a good cleanup. But they say not to judge a book by it's cover. The restored Spanish house is quaint and quite romantic. The food was... More

Four of us spent $250 on dinner. The food was not great, and while the service was friendly and professional, the wait between courses was exhausting. I think the kitchen gets overtaxed when they're hosting a wedding or special event, as they were our night, and the restaurant patrons suffer. Admittedly, we dithered around a bit when it came to... Very slow service! Waited 25 minutes for drinks. At least an hour for soup and salads then again another 30 minutes for entrees. Made it to desserts and the coffee was cold!

We had a very nice experience on Friday. We had a reservation and they actually called us in the afternoon to ask if we preferred indoor or outdoor seating. They put us under a carob tree that was big and old and had branches touching the ground. It was lit with a string of lights. Our server was attentive but... More

We were wary of dining at this restaurant, based on complaints about service on both Open Table and tripadvisor. However, we needed an early dinner in order to make our downtown concert, so we decided to try it. Arriving at 5:30, the service we received and food preparation were both excellent. We tried the fresh Alaskan halibut and papardelle entrees.... More

Last year I rated House at Secret Garden with a rave 5-star review. Last night I went back and feel obligated to revise that after detecting a major slip in their cooking. The pork belly appetizer was equal to my memory and recommended in all ways. But the burrata salad had a microscopic piece of creamy cheese in the middle... More

The reviewers are right. The food is top notch and served well. The staff is very friendly and welcoming as well especially to these first timers. But the outdoor space wasn't what we were looking for. The road noise was prominent in the background and and when the music started up for the wedding being held on the property it... More

We stopped here for lunch on the last day of our visit to Phoenix. So glad we did! It was the perfect ending to a terrific, relaxing vacation. We sat inside because it was too chilly to eat outside, but we can't wait to go back and sit out in the garden some evening. There was a fire in the... More

Last night we enjoyed a memorable meal at House at Secret Garden. All the food was amazing! We had the risotto ball appetizers, grilled romaine salad, and the shrimp and grits. All served two of us and left room for dessert cannollis. We ate out on the patio, and although it was pretty chilly, the atmosphere was to romantic to... More

I booked an indoor table for a party of 5 for a special event on Saturday 12/22. I should have immediately realized something was wrong as soon as we were seated in the main dining room and I could not hear the hostess and the other tables were empty on our side of the room. On the other side of... More
