not being there for a long time what a pity to be the only people there for lunch.it is such a great place with nice food and reasonable wine list.i had the lam which was great as well while my partner had a fantastic lamb curry !

We were recommended the Volkskombuis from our Guesthouse and we enjoyed our meal here very much. We tried the Cape specialities and both the food and the wine were delicious. We booked a group of around 30 people and arranged for a set menu, which had all the old traditional items: snoek in phyllo, springbok pie, chicken pie, lamb curry or bobotie, and ended the dinner with Malta pud. The food was freshly prepared, delicious and most affordable. I can highly recommend this restaurant for a group function.

Very disappointing after many years of regular visits whenever in the Cape. Poorly cooked food and a very limited choice menu. Such a pity, it used to be a great treat. I e-mailed them my views on our meal but was not favoured with a reply. We will not be bothering to go there again.

Quite a few restaurants in Stellenbosch are pretty expensive. The Volkskombuis restaurant is a bit off the center but in a quiete area not far from famous dorpstraat. the service is good, big variaty of food at affordable prices. worth a visit
