really cozy little place has a good mix of tico or american dishes a very nice place to relax and enjoy your meal with you family or friends
Robin made the tough decision to close her café at the end of 2011. Our group of gals-who-lunch had many many happy meetings there, so it was bad news for us. However, Robin still caters for parties with her delectable 'bocas' (finger foods) or full catering, and she will bake her tasty cakes to order. Email her at: robin emigh... More
This is the best restaurant in the world. I will visit again.
Robin's is famous for the sweets, but I love a savory breakfast and this place rocks the breakfast. Eggs Benedict is delicious. I had stopped ordering Eggs Benedict in Costa Rican restaurants as the "hollandaise" would always turn out to be some dodgy cheese sauce poured out of a Tetrapak box. This is the real deal. Quiche is fantastic, and... More
pleasant, great cafe with excellent baked goods and coffee. Also, Robin is wonderful company.
We were traveling to La Fortuna that same day, and decided to first stop by to grab some breakfast (they offer brunch). My boyfriend asked for scrambled eggs in Spanish (his native tongue) and they never arrived with the excuse that they thought he wanted to buy some eggs. I ordered their famous mocha chocolate pie, and at 12:00 in... More
We stopped over for a late breakfast and, we had hoped, some nice scones and dessert. Although there were more staff than customers, the eggs we had asked for never came. Also, their famous desert was frozen and their scones sub-par. It is cozy but with such service and normal food that was not enough.
This is close to the Hotel Beacon in the middle of Escazú. Great desserts! I also like supporting it because I know her employees love her.
Robin has a way with desserts, matched only by her delicious quiches, delicate salads, rich lasagnas, and special ginger carrot soup. If you find yourself in the suburb of Escazu(twenty minutes from downtown San Jose) this is the perfect place for a quite, restful, gourmet lunch.
When in Escazu centro, across from the Beacon Hotel, try Robin's great coffee shop for fresh baked goods or lunch. I love the scones! But, she also has pies, cakes, lemon squares, cookies and more. Yum!
