This is a very simple eating place with picnic benches just across the road from the beach in Hermosa and simply the best value we had during a 2 week stay in Costa Rica. We didn't expect to find Montreal style smoked meat and poutine in Costa RIca so Papa Hog's was a pleasant surprise! This is a small, informal, outside, roadside restaurant with 3 picnic tables. The owners (from Canada) are friendly. The BBQ ribs were good - served Friday and Saturday. The chicken was tasty and fresh.

Seriously! This guy sells poutine and smoked meat sandwiches. An ex-pat from north of Toronto, Canada. Very friendly! Ask him how he recreates the poutine cheese and where he gets his pastrami from, quite interesting!

We stopped in here for dinner ( it looked dark and slightly deserted at about 7:30pm, but we went up to the window anyways) and were greeted by the super friendly canadian owners.
