In an effort to avoid crowd, my family decided to have our Chinese New Year's dinner at Va Bene. We were the only guests at the restaurant for most of the time we were there. The place is beautiful and welcoming. The service was great (but we were the only guests).
The food is very well prepared. Highly recommend the...

From food to service and starter to dessert.
I had the green tagliatelle for main and tiramisu to end, one of the best I tried in Shanghai. Wine list is nice, however felt like a bit limited ''by the glass''.Service is professional. Nothing else to say !

This Italian restaurant in the French Concession is wonderful. The place is charming, the service is excellent and the food is superb. This restaurant would be excellent if it was in Italy. Can't say enough about it. If you're looking for something different in Shanghai you will not be disappointed.

Service was clumsy, heavy...

The service in this restaurant, from the lady at front of house saying that our booking didn't exist (but then finding it and sayIng we didn't pronounce our name correctly, to no apology being offered when the lasagna arrived burnt on the outside and cold on the inside, was terrible. The foie gras starter was awful. 2 courses for 4...

Following a 21 day Wendy Wu tour we had a free day in Shanghai on Saturday and decided to treat ourselves to a nice (non Chinese) lunch. We'd seen VaBene in the French Concession and decided to splash out. The three course set lunch (plus coffee/tea) was, in fact, very reasonable - although at about £50+ for a bottle of...
