The dumplings are good, but not exceptional. The long line ups are not unexpected given the location in the Yu Gardens and move briskly. If possible avoid the table service on the second floor. The staff is well known for taking advantage of Western tourists - charging expensive items not ordered (substituting these for far less expensive items ordered). More

The restaurant is next to the Yunan garden in the old chinese town. It could be a good stop after visiting Yunnan if the food wasn't so bad. The restaurant delivers food at 4 places: downstairs for take away food, 1st floor basic dumplings only, 2nd floor right medium and high end dumplings and 2nd floor left high end dumplings.... More

I've been back to this chain several times and keep wondering why I repeat the same mistakes of giving it another chance. The dumplings are not good since it is so important that the skin of the soup dumplings are delicate...theirs are tough and dry. Skip the long line and try a less discovered place. More

This place is the best to get the classic Shanghai favorite - Xiao Long Bao, or often called soup dumplings. The line is very long, but we went inside where there was plenty of room. We had one of the set menus, and all the dim sum was good, but the oversized soup dumpling wasn't as good as the rest.... More

Really not nice and overrated! Tried all 3 floors of Xiao Long Bao and really not good at all! Don't be fooled by the long queue downstairs... Those are tourists and first timers! More

This is a must visit restaurant in a very touristy area. The dumplings are average, but good. If you stand in the line downstairs the dumplings are cheaper. Or if you need to rest your feed you can head upstairs. Bypass the crowds and go talk to the hostess at the front of the line to make sure you get... More

If you want to have a seat without waiting too long, try going during 3pm to 4pm. No need to go up to the more expensive level. The 2nd cheaper level queue will move very fast. More

Don't line up downstairs where everyone else is cueing to get takeaway/take-out, look for the doorway with stairs leading up to the restaurant. We went around 2pm and were seated straight away. Great food and some of the staff do know a little English, so even though I was vegetarian, I was able to get food suitable. More

After a visit to Yu Garden, treat yourself with dumplings for a mere 60 RMB... No service, zero decorum, just the food. But it's fresh and efficient. See the queue outside of locals waiting for 'to go' orders... More
