Bland food, long wait, not worth it. It's always packed and, to me, it's not food worth fighting for. I'd rather make something at home.
This is a family owned cafe with a limited daily menu. For about $10, you can have your choice of entree, three sides & soft drink. It is a filling meal for about anyone. The food is good enough, but lacks the "dash of love" that I look for in this type of restaurant. It just doesn't taste like someone's... More
My wife and I ate at a wonderful cafe today that I can recommend to anyone. First, there was a waiting list (which, in my book signals good food) and people were coming out at a fairly good pace (quick service). They have a reputation as being an excellent "Meat & Three", but I can, personally, vouch only for breakfast.... More
We ate breakfast here on a Saturday morning. I had an amazing omelet with cheesy browns and toast. My daughter had pancakes, eggs and cheesy browns, while my husband had eggs, country ham and biscuits. We all shared a chocolate biscuit. While everything was delicious, the cheesy browns alone are worth the trip. Best cheesy hash browns I have ever... More
We had read a Trip Advisor review and realized we would be close to the restaurant so decided to try it out. The first time we passed the entire parking lot was filled. About 2 hours later, we passed and the parking lot was still filled. We were seated at the counter immediately or there would have been a wait.... More
Blue Plate Cafe is like stepping back in time and going to a diner in the good old days. I've been twice now and both times sat at the counter to avoid waiting for a table as there's a line at lunch. They have a menu that features certain specials depending on the day of the week. One day I... More
The Blue Plate cafe is reliable, friendly, well-managed, and always clean but it is unspectacular. I dine there a lot because it is close to work. The fried pork chops are average only...one of my acid tests ... and the menu is uninspired. Oddly though, they could probably fill a facility with twice the seats of their current location so... This place, as you can tell by the wait time at lunch, serves a great meal. They have great, homemade, "country cooking". Make sure you get there early for lunch of else you'll have to wait for a table.
Blue Plate reminds me of the old fashioned diners of yesteryear. Service helpful and friendly, food good and plenty, atmosphere noisy, but unpretentious. This is really what Cracker Barrel tries to be without always succeeding. And the breafast is great. I wish we had more like this...
Great place for breakfast and lunch. Plentiful home-style cooking in a diner-style atmosphere. Friendly place. Often people camped out in line waiting to get in. Parking can be a problem as well. But if you want a really good breakfast, this is a good bet.
