The best place for Bengali sweets, esp, Sandesh. If you don't experience this you will miss the Bengali sweet's quintessential taste and flavor. This north Kolkata joint still has the flavor of nineteenth century Kolkatan Baabu culture. Simply Superb.

Girish-Nokur as the place is commonly known is the place for trying out sandesh in its many variations. The subtle flavours, the quality of the raw-material, the not-too-sweet taste are distinctive for this place. The ambience carries the stamp of vintage. Don't miss!

If you visit the shop, you experience a package consisting of the product (sandesh), the process of preparation of sandesh with equipment and technology, the workers, the shop-owners, the surroundings of north Kolkata. When you stand on the small queue to buy sandesh, you may think of the history associated with the 'Nakur' on Ramdulal Sarkar street. The original, simple... More

I have tasted the best sandesh in my life thanks to Tripadvisor rating. Fresh, not too sweet (they put exactly the required quantity of sugar), and what flavours!!! Rose, Chocolate, every sandesh was so very delicious. Not very expensive for the quality. Excellent!

"If Apple ever made Bengali sweets then it would taste like this Sondesh". "A must-visit place for anyone suffering from a sweet tooth." That's how emotional the Bengalis of Kolkata get when they talk about this Sondesh shop which is about 170 years old. Its not that everyone in Kolkata knows about this shop but all the sweet lovers who... More
