Great burgers, salads and tacos. Did I say great burgers? Taste like steak. Friendly staff with real Austin vibe. Maybe avoid stuff like chile cheese fries and stick to the comfort stuff.

I love to go to Shady Grove on a pretty day. I'm not a big fan of their inside decor, but the patio is awesome. My favorite thing is the Hippie Sandwich- yummy, grilled fresh veggies with a tasty sauce. The Shady Thang is a margarita with brandy, so it's sweeter than a typical margarita.

Love the patio. Food is good. Service is good. But expect a wait during prime times and especially weekends! I've never been there when there is live music - but I love dining al fresco on the patio. An Austin Institution well worth visiting!

Whenever I am in Austin, I have to eat outside under the amazing 100-year old tree and have a hippie sandwich and a world famous Shady Grove bloody Mary. This place is quintessentially Austin with is groovy vibe and unplugged music on Thursdays. It's a don't miss.

I have never been inclined to write about a restaurant but then again i have never been served rotten food before. I ordered the Queso Catfish and my other 2 friends ordered salad and a sandwich. When our meal finally arrived, i took a bite of mashed potatoes, it was very cold ,so i moved on to my fish. One... More

This used to be my favorite place while in Austin. Went on Thursday night. Service was the absolute worst of my entire life. Waiter did not smile, did not give any info about the food, did not bother checking on us during the meal, did not ask if we needed anything. In fact he was outright rude! My meatloaf made... More

We went on a Saturday night, and there was a long wait, however, it was great outside, we easily got a drink from the bar, and hung out by picnic tables until our table was ready. I even inadvertently paid the bartender too much (a $20 instead of the $5 tip I was trying to leave) and he called me... More

If you go to Shady Grove, you have got to try the hippie chick with salad. The bread is a multi grain bread that is made around the area. It is served with grilled veggies and grilled chicken......a salad on the side......a must.............very very good! Our wait was pleasant and fast.

Down the road from Zilker Park and Barton Pool, Shady Grove is a great place for lunch. Expect a 15 minute wait for outside seating and but it's well worth it. Lots of tasty food, a variety of draft beers and a knowledgeable and friendly wait staff make this a must eat place. Check to see what bands are playing... More

But it was a nice spring day... The food was very good and the service was fine. Very nice for outdoor seating (unless it is hot).
