I have been hearing all the hype about Franklin Barbecue for several months now, this morning my father (visiting from North Carolina) and I went down to check it out for ourselves. Before I review the food, a couple high level pointers for anyone thinking about visiting: 1) If you want Franklin barbecue, you will wait. Accept this. Prepare for... More

If you've got time on your hands, stop in for some really good Texas BBQ. Oak smoked MT beef brisket, pork ribs, & pulled pork were all awesome. The desserts all sounded great, I wish we would have saved room... There is plenty of great BBQ in hill country, but Frankin is among the best. More

While in Austin by myself on business I went to Franklin BBQ, mostly because of the reviews on Trip Advisor. The place opens at 11am. I got there at 10:15am and there was already a pretty big line. One of the employees came out and was asking everyone what they were going to order to get an idea of when... More

Franklin Barbecue has been called the best barbecue in America by Bon Appetit. I don't like waiting in line and I would have given this restaurant a 5-star had it not been for the wait! The ribs were so tender and they had a nice crispy coating on the outside. I would have to say they were the best pork... More

We missed out the first time because we went at 1:00 and they were sold out. (That's kind of their thing.) Went back the next day at 10:45 and the line was already half way around the place, but it's a pleasant spot to stand and the food is worth the wait! Have all four meats -- the ribs were... More

If you can afford to stand in line outside the restaurant for up to 2 hours the food is amazing. Everything is moist...Brisket, sausage and ribs. Staff is great and T shirts are affordable. The place is a little run down...as a good BBQ place should be but it can get a little stuffy inside and too hot outside. Would... More

I live in the neighborhood where Franklin's started out of a food trailer. At the time, lines were quick, but there were still lines, and it was always worth it. In it's new location, we've only been once, and it's because we rarely have 2-2 1/2 hours to wait for BBQ. But, I will tell you, it is worth the... More

I started frequenting Franklin's when they served out of an old trailer, and I have followed them to their storefront on East 11th. Eating brisket, ribs, and sausage that have been slow smoked for 18 hours by Aaron Franklin and his crew is truly a religious experience. The brisket so is tender, so juicy, so flavorful that no sauce is... More

Get there early! Franklin's opens at 11:00. The brisket is the moist, smokey, tender meat that melts in your mouth, ribs are tender and flavorful, pork butt is good and moist too. Sausage is cooked to perfection. Delicious is an understatement! The most wonderful home cooked pinto beans that have pieces of the smoked meats in them and homemade potato... More

As unbelievable as it seems, a 3 hour wait was worth every second. The brisket is otherworldly. More
