Energetic and popular venue. Chef Erica recently won "Chopped" so it's gotten even more popular. You can see her most evenings behind the stoves cooking.
Max's wine dive is a favorite of my family and friends. We love the atmosphere and the options for meals is just fabulous. I love that each wine that we want to order, we receive a taste, poured at our table prior to choosing. What service. I LOVE the gluten-free fried chicken with honey and mashed potatoes. We have had... More
Let me first say how excited I am that they'll be opening one up in Chicago, Illinois. The food is fantastic. The wine list is wonderful. The service is impeccable. Every time I go I say I'm going to get the fried chicken and I always get sidetracked and get something else. Like the fried chicken sliders - by far... More
I had Sunday lunch there, it was crowded but the hostess found an empty table for us. It’s clearly a wine place, but the menu had some really nice and interesting items on it. I had the breakfast taco meal, which was 2 large wheat tortillas with braised duck, scrambled egg, some queso fresco, and grilled green onion. It was... More
Visited here on our first night in Austin. We had great service. We started off splitting the max and cheese and bison sliders which were both great. I had the fried egg sandwich which was excellent and was a huge portion. Very happy with the wine selections as well.
Our last evening in Austin we chose to eat here. I was disappointed in the service (very poor), the food was just OK and really we didn't see what was so special about the fried chicken. We've had much better elsewhere. Save your time and money and visit the other great eats that Austin has to offer.
While waiting to check into our hotel in Austin, we went to Max's Wine Dive for a lite lunch. (That's what we THOUGHT!) It was close to noon on Saturday and the place was not very crowded. DH and I decided to share the Egg Sandwich (again thinking lite) and some white wine. (Don't miss the specially priced wine on... More
I will not be able to comment on the prices since I was there on a business trip. We had a private room downstairs where they had paired up some appetizers with specific wines. I like my wines on the sweet side and some of their stations had dry wine. By itself, the dry wines just make me shiver upon... More
We were there for Sunday Brunch and they had all kinds of different preparations for eggs and just about anything else you might want. The servings were very large. We would return.
The wine selection list was very extensive - something to please any taste. The server was more than willing to let us sample the wines once we narrowed it down to one or two that we wanted to try. We had several of their small plates and they were all excellent (especially the mac and cheese). For the large plates,... More
