The portions are huge and very filling! The staff is very welcoming. Although it's quite packed, it's well worth waiting for! We'll be going back!

We always loved the Dixie Pig when I was stationed in Abilene. A local favorite with good food/coffee and even better stories from the norms...ie..old men who eat there everyday. It is a great and comfortable local institutions.

Been over three decades since we were back in this part of the state and thought we would give the Dixie Pig a visit as we ate there a lot as kids. Love the silly pig decor - very campy fun. The place is old but that adds to the fun going in to such a place. Quick service even... More

OK, my husband and I try to patronize local business rather than all the chains. We have been to the DP a few times and although the food is good, the service is just crappy. No greetings when you arrive, once you seat yourself it may take up to 15 minutes to get acknowledged. The waitstaff seems more interested in... More

Old time restaurant with homecooked meals. Locals seem to love it.

This is what I remember from my childhood. Real waitresses that actresses only try to copy when there is a Diner scene. Quick service, great, homemade breakfasts and fresh coffee. The prices were very reasonable and the food was good and fresh. It is a real taste of authentic local cafe fare. They are open for breakfast and lunch only.

The Dixie Pig on Butternut Street in Abilene is a rockin' old time eatery that hits the spot, not only with on-time coffee refills, but also with food that is country kitchen good. Oh yes, and for those who care - and I know you're out there, yes, they have grits. It isn't on the menu - and our waitress... More

The Dixie Pig has been around forever. So have several of the waitresses. Breakfast is excellent. Eggs, bacon, pancakes and biscuits and cream gravy. All recommended. Lunch? If you are there when fried chicken is the special of the day, don't even think about ordering anything else. Good food. Good prices. Authentic diner "decor." Even the name is authentic, from... One of those places that's been around for 50+ years, but STILL has a great following. It's hard to find a place to park your car, and you may have to wait for a seat, but just BE PATIENT! You'll absolutely Love the food
