My 11-year old is not an adventurous eater but loves sushi, so this outing was basically to indulge her. Once you walk in to Miraku there is no hint that you are in Malaysia - in fact, it is incongruous in the extreme to travel in ten minutes from the colonial heart of George Town to Miraku, which is located... Very exciting place, different areas with different experiences. The food is top notch with very, very fresh and sharp ingredients and a very wide variety of Japanese offerings. Try the hot pot / steamboat combos - very interesting, but perhaps a bit bold for the uninitiated. More

I think Miraku is the best place for sushi in George Town, and I think the mostly local and Japanese guests packed in the restaurant for dinner would confirm my opinion. It is conveniently located on Gurney Drive and is tastefully decorated with warm tones of wood and earth colors. We sat at the sushi bar and watched the chefs... More
