I marked it as 4 because I don't want to drag the ratings down. However - word of warning. We walked a 3km round trip from the top end of North Cliff to find this resturant on the strength of the reviews and recommendations from the rough guide. We were very much looking forward both to the scenery, peaceful surroundings... More

We went here for (real) coffee and lassis, then dinner twice, having read about it in a guide book when searching for somewhere to eat near our accommodation on the South Cliff . You would be unlikely to stumble across it as it is so hidden and badly signposted and off the beaten track. It is German-owned and staffed by... More

This place is like eating on top of a cliff, no it IS on the edge a steep cliff...no good if you get vertigo. I was inspired to write a short story about it. Unique for sure.

Travelling as a couple and booked into the best little hotel on the South Cliff- KR Guesthouse. he reccomended the Lotus Cafe and we ended up going every night! Really friendly staff and great food. The views at sunset are awesome. Plenty of fresh fish and fruit.

You sit right on the cliff's edge (bit scarey). Interesting view of Varkala walking some of the back roads to get there in the evening, out of the tourist zone. Spectacular sunset eating spot. Good food and nice spot.

This restaurant is located at the South Cliff. It makes it a little less crowdy and you never has to wait for a table. Most of the tables are located just next to canyon which makes the sea view absolutly perfect. The food is very good so give yourself a chance to get spoiled. They usually have newly captured seafood... More

In all my reviews I have never used the tterm "hidden gem" as it is so trite. The Lotus Cafe is hidden. Even the local neighbors do not know where or what it is. The Lotus Cafe is a gem. It is just a tiny hut like place, but serves real coffee in a land that does not know what... More

We ate her twice once for lunch and once for dinner. The menu has a large selection of different types of food from Indian to fish etc. We would highly recommend the food as it was yummy and had good size portions. There is a large range of drinks on the menu all for a resonable price.

This was the only restaurant in operation on the south beach. Rough Guide recommended it and said the home made ice cream was good. They did not say describe the poor service and average to weak, sometimes inedible food. The ice cream that was mentioned in the guide was not available one night and the second day we were presented... More
