It looks like a nice place and advertises 2x1 drinks during happy hour. So we went in with my boyfriend cause I wanted to have a drink. My boyfriend was not so excited about having a drink. Anyway I ordered two mojitos since it was happy hour. and the lady said that happy hour two for one is personal offer.... More

We read great reviews on the food, even though the atmosphere sounded a little kitschy/tourist, we thought it could be fun & that street in Getsemane seems up and coming. Staff was sweet & attentive, traditional music was blaring but fun, and decor was pretty over the top touristy...food pretty dry & bland - after the explosion of flavors we've... More

The food is good, the environment is excellent, the music gives u a good approach about Colombian party, but they charge u for everything which is not bad when is something significant. For instance I ordered a sauce which was added to my bill, come on a sauce!!! didn't like that small detail. Additionally some of the cocktails are not... More

I stumbled up Macondo while out looking for something that looked good and inviting. The music playind had a full latin groove and the people inside seemed to be having a good time, so In I came. Good Decision! I ordered the Cerviche on Plantin Crips and it was AMAZING. I watched the kitchen staff make it from scratch and... More

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place after a decidedly poor meal elsewhere and decided on some after dinner drinks and a dessert at Macondo. Best decision ever! The cocktails are heavenly (and 2 for 1 before 9pm) and the coconut tart was delicious and left us hungry for more..... So we returned for the following 2 nights!!! The... More

The town of Barranquilla in Columbia has a carnival second only to that of Rio de Janeiro. It started last night and we were treated to a taste of it at La Plaza de Macondo in the Getsemani district of historic Cartagena. We were entertained by an engagingly choreographed show of carnival music and dance: the piece with death against... More

Let me just get this out of the way and say that the food at Macondo was actually pretty good. Then again it wasn't outstanding either, and this being Cartagena, there are better options at the same price point. Speaking of price point, don't be fooled by this place, you will not pay what you expect. The menu clearly says... More

This place deserves your custom because it offers tasty Colombian fare prepared with a difference and reasonably priced. Mains cost from $10. Three courses could be had from $20 (including 10% tip) with drinks costing on top of that. I had potatoes with hogar and guacamole for a starter. I turns out hogar is some kind of savoury tomato salsa... More

Great service and a very good meal with the key Colombian specialties, and they have live shows on Thursday and Saturday nights. A reason to come out to the less touristy Getsemaní neighborhood, which I personally prefer. More

Go and eat here and you won´t regret it! They serve great traditional Colombian dishes and Colombian drinks. Try the ´posta negra, it´s a delicious meal of beef marinated in beer and some kind of dark sugar. Service is good and the restaurant looks great. It is not that busy yet but they have just openend a few months ago.... More
