This place was on the street right behind our hotel, and we saved it for the last night. I wish we ate there earlier in the week so we could have gone twice. This was the best meal we had all week. The steak with the lime dipping sauce was so good, we left and went to the Market to... More

My friend and I went to Green Star for our last dinner in Cambodia and it was definitely memorable. We were lucky enough to get the last table (there were a couple of large groups and other diners) right near the door so that we could enjoy the atmosphere. The owner suggested some really tasty Khmer dishes and we loved... More

The location is far off the beaten path. We walked to it and we would not recommend anyone doing that. Streets to dark and deserted for comfort. Having said that, the food was terrific. We ordered the corn specialty, frogs, a fish special and a pitcher of COLD beer. The bill was nine dollars. It was late when we arrived... More

We had dinner at Green Star and found it to be just OK. We were drawn to it because of the non-profit mission, but left disappointed by the so-so food. The deep fried corn was interesting and the best thing we had. Veggies in oyster sauce were cooked just right, but the sauce was bland. Ginger fish was OK. The... More

We are sorry to learn your experience at Green Star was less than satisfactory. It would seem none of our food was really to your taste. Perhaps in contradiction to most of our patrons, as demonstrated by their reviews, but we certainly recognize that Green Star, being a simple, cheap Khmer restaurant, does not always reflect a level that meets... Found this restaurant after reading about the Green Gecko organization that helps street children. The food was delicious especially the fried corn and we felt very welcomed! A good selection of Khmer dishes. Don't miss this one! More

Really delicious food, at very cheap prices, all for a good cause. Had two apps, two entrees, and ~4 big beers for $15 USD, and the owner sat down with us for a while to talk about his restaurant and his move from Australia to Cambodia - highly recommended! More

None of our tut tut drivers knew of this place, so we had to have them call first for directions. Also they close mid day for a rest, so call before you go to make sure they're open. Its a tiny little place, no air conditioning, very basic. At first you'll worry you're in the wrong place (look for the... More

We are certainly pleased you enjoyed your menu choices & we thank you for your support. It's unfortunate that circumstances dictated that neither Avee or I were able to be at Green Star the day you visited & I'm unsure what happened that you experienced difficulties in communicating with the staff - although it needs to be recognised that English... We found The Green Star on Trip Advisor because all of the raving going on... and they are all spot on! The food is oh so good and the owners are incredibly friendly! I have strange food allergies and traveling can be a pain, but they were so accommodating and it was just wonderful - like eating a good meal... More

This is a lovely little restaurant, low key, friendly and great food. The staff are very helpful and attentive with good recommendations on food. We even tried the frog which was really tasty. Cheap beer too. I would definitely recommend especially if you want to get away from the touristy area, and it's for a good cause. More

Forget pub street!! For a true taste of local cuisine go to Green Star! My husband and I went here 3 times during our trip. We had countless beers and great food here....especially the corn! Besides that, crowds of tourists are not our cup of tea. We went here to get away from it all and glad we did! Had... More

Wow! High praise indeed - 3 times....... So glad you enjoyed Green Star & the Gecko Cook Book, yes, a great reminder of your time in Cambodia by way of being able to cook up a 'Cambodian storm' once home & not to forget it tells a little of The Green Gecko Project story, a reminder of who you helped...
