We ate the same day in El Mecado and Gaston&Astrid. El Mercado was realy better. We had the best grilled octopus in Lima, the ceviche was very good, the scalops a la griega were excelent and the vietnamese shrimps were delicious. Best restaurant in Lima. You shouldn't miss this place.

Good service, very nice ambiance, great food. The scallops in shells were truly delicious and all the ceviche was fresh and full of flavor. Highly recommended.

Hubby & I made lunch reservations about a week before our arrival to Lima. We're so glad we did because this place was buzzing on a Friday afternoon! Thankfully the staff were accommodating to our tiny knowledge of Spanish & they helped us tremendously with English menus. We started with parilla octopus - how on earth do they get it... More

Went to Mercado for lunch with a local business associate. We were running late for our reservation we called the restaurant to advise them that we would be about 15 minutes late and the hostess told us that they could only hold table for 10 minutes; I thought to myself that this was a little pretentious. Upon arrival the place... More

This is certainly a great spot for some typical (and not so typical) peruvian food with a hommie appeal. I believe the maracuya sour with the chifles and fried camotes is perfect when dipping in that amazing huancaina sauce. For appetizers i had the ceviche mercado with some extra crispy non-fat calamari and the pulpo a la parrilla (grilled octopus)... More

I went to El Meecado with a friend. She swore it would be a great place - she was right. The place, crowd, food, are all worth visiting. I always enjoy a place when I was very happy with my choice (pepper tuna) but also impressed with dishes all around me. People seemed to light up when the food hit... More

The Peruvians know how to do lunch. They know cebiche, they know Pisco. I was traveling recently for work with a large group of travelers. While I had made my reservation well in advance, this is a popular place and we almost lost our table because of the popularity, but crisis averted, and my taste buds are forever grateful! We... I have been dying to go to La Mar in Lima. There's a location here in NYC but I refuse to pay $$$price for it. When I asked about La Mar at our hotel concierge, he recommended El Mercado instead. I looked at him with confusion but listened to him anyhow. Two of my friends were there the day before... More

got there at 2 o'clock and it was packed, sat on the bar and ate there, but it turns out that around 4 o clock it was almost empty, so if you don't like to eat that early, you can get in around 3:30 and have better chances of getting a table. I had the ceviche mercado which was quite... More

A good seafood place but overly populated by people who imagine themselves more beautiful than they really are. Among cevicherias, I'd rate Alfresco, Pescados Capitales, La Red and Punto Azul well ahead of it.
