Salt is a condiment that will do so much for your cooking but that if you only would know how to properly use it. We had a couple of peruvian specialties that were absolutely overwhelmed by the overdose of these powerful flavor enhancer. Besides the chef in myself would taste food as it is prepared, this is a tip I... More

I'll keep this short and sweet: this restaurant has the fame of being the most exclusive (or among them) in Quito. The prices are over the top, the place where huge business deals are closed, and fancy isn't even close to describe it. Well my courtesy breadsticks had a fly in it. And the waiter did nothing. And I ordered... More

If you've eaten in Peru you know the cuisine is amazing, the best amalgam of multiple cuisines. This is the outpost of one internationally renowned chef, and we had the luck to dine there. The tasting menu, consisting of 3 courses , each with multiple components will leave you happy with your choice. Varied from both local Peruvian, Ecuadorian dishes... More

The best Peruvian restaurant in QUITO! You feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. The service is excellent, smiling faces and always so helpful. The food is magnificent,...and the piscos.... they are just to die for!

Food is just OK, and is definitely not the best peruvian food you can find. I ate some peruvian ceviche and it was very mediocre. Then I had the Pollo cholo.... Just OK. My wife tried the duck and she was very dissapointed. Without desserts, the total invoice was USD 80. Way too expensive for Quito and for the food... More

Astrid y Gaston is a pretty, airy and comfortable restaurant in Quito, Ecuador. Visitors to Quito should be aware that Quito has a crime problem evidenced by the armed guard at the door of this special restaurant. The service was very nice and luckily for us the menu was in English as a lot of the staff speaks Spanish only.... More

We were visiting from Los Angeles, California and just had a couple of nights in Quito. We met a young man on the plane from Galapagos who suggested we try Astrid y Gaston for a "nice night out." We were really hoping to have something that was regional to South America, and also not touristy. Astrid y Gaston was really... More

We were looking forward to this place. Good TA reviews, a friend who had lived in Quito telling us it was great, and rave reviews on the Astrid y Gaston in BA which we couldn't make it to. Venue Very nice. A large room with only a few people in it when we were there (Monday). Food I had been... More

We made a reservation via email before arriving in Quito and were thrilled that we did. We started with a ceviche appetizer, which was not part of the prix fixe, but then also had the tasting menu and loved every bite. We were given a variety of breads to start, which were all delicious and were accompanied by three different... More

Lima's Astrid y Gastón is the restaurant that started the gourmet food revolution in Peru. And Quito's Astrid y Gaston let's you understand why it all started there: fresh local products, traditional recipes and a great pride and creativity that takes the traditional dishes to new places. Astrid y Gastón has been one of my favorite restaurants in Quito since... More
