I was really looking forward to Café Batavia because the reviews on TripA had been encouraging and pictures of the place looked really nice. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The smoking section looks like a dodgy dive bar: dark and shrouded in smoke. We headed upstairs to the non-smoking section and the warning bells in my head... More

its a nice and old style cafe, which is beautifully decorated with old style furniture and pictures on the walls. It is a nice escape from the busy streets off Jakarta, you walk in and find a calming atmosphere. If you are on a budget, like we were you would find it expensive, due to the price off the food... Well, I like the cozy situation. It's very classy and convenience. But, I won't eat in this cafe anymore. The food is very expensive according to my budget, and I don't really like the food.

A very good alternative to hotel restaurant when visiting JAKARTA for the first time. A real good experience we ask the waiter for recommendation as we wanted to eat indonesian food. First advice Hot or spicy have not the same meaning in europe and in Indonesia so take care!!! The choice was good, typical indonesian vegetable and Satay skewer. (Don't... More

I don't know about other days, but when I was there, my family and I were treated differently comparing to foreigners who visited the cafe. The food aren't that great and overpriced.

We were taken to this exquisite restaurant by some locals as an end of tour treat!!! I so thought that it was going to be all about the decor!! BUT this restaurant surprised at every turn. The attention to detail in the menu and the presentation were superb. The service was amazing and the food itself lived up to every... More

Visited Cafe Batavia to reminisce my last trip to Jakarta which was ages ago and enjoyed the lunch there. Food quality remains good, and the atmosphere within the cafe still retains a certain old world charm.

Great time with live music & delicious food although too pricy. Nice view on market if you sit close to window on second floor.

This is a Café not to be missed. The décor is unreal old world charm. I only wish I had more time to check out at night time--lovely Coffee and Cake ,great staff, check out the photos on the walls. I could just imagine what it would have been like to visit back in the 40s.
