Had this at the airport. Quality wise this paled in comparison to my previous dining experience in Singapore with this same restaurant.
I'm so spoiled that after coming here, no katsu will ever be on par. I have to wait each time to go back to HK to get this katsu. The pork is tender, juicy, and fatty! You have to get the premium pork, might as well, its not that much more expensive. Service is good, unlimited cabbage and soup.
Upstairs at the departure lounge. Good food even suit western tastes, takes foreign credit cards, quick clean and efficient. Bit painful to get a seat, but thats HK airport not Saboten problem.
Staff just shoo-ed us away at 2.45pm when we had checked their listing on other sites it had stated a 3.30pm closing time and 3pm last order. Another gentleman who was there minutes before us experienced the same thing. Staff seemed in a hurry to leave.
Well, this has changed my impression of airport food. It's one of the best airport food places I've tried :-) Saboten is located inside at the departure terminal after you pass security. It's located at the food hall at the upper level of the departure terminal (Terminal 1). Oftentimes, I would go for the BBQ meat with rice meals at... More
Saboten is incredible. I went for the first time this past weekend and fell in love with the restaurant. The japanese pork cutlet here is exceptional, I doubt I can eat normal tonkatsu from other restaurants ever again. I tried the premium tenderloin tonkatsu (a little crispier than the normal katsu) and my friend had the miso-flavored one. Both were... More
As a frequent traveler I do my fair share of airport restaurants. While there are indeed several good options in the major airports (Hong Kong, Haneda, Changi, Suvarnabhumi), this Saboten branch is simply outstanding! The speed of service is 3-4 minutes and you will get a Tonkatsu, while not being as good as Tonkichi downtown, which is superb, considering menu... More
I've been reading so many reviews about this tonkatsu restaurant in Hong Kong's airport and I'm glad I finally got to try it last month! After taking a bite of the tonkatsu I was surprised because I was expecting the taste to blow my mind but to be completely honest, it was just mediocre. Maybe I was expecting too much... More
Certainly a must-try when having your meal at the airport. I asked my hotel and they only had 2 branches. The other one was too hard to find and not worth the hassle to go so I decided to try it in the airport. The meals are very simple as authentic Japanese meals are. Rather than eating at the usual...
