This has to be my most wonderful dining experience. I had researched on-line for places to visit before I left home and this restaurant was on my list. I had never eaten Peking duck before and I am so pleased I saved my first time for this trip to Beijing. I sat mesmerised whilst our duck was prepared and presented... More

A very large restaurant. If you arrive without booking you can drink in the bar and will get a table in 20 minutes. Bar prices are high -70yuan for a glass of wine. Good wine is 240 a bottle. The price for roast duck (around 260) is for a whole duck for two people including accompanying pancakes and sauces. They... More

Our guide book recommended Dadong and we were in the area and went. We had to wait for a table, but were given a free drink to help us be patient. The restaurant is beautifully appointed inside, the only thing that jarred was the video showing an advert for themselves (inc. a woman eating a sea-slug). The staff were extremely... More

I've read a lot of negative reviews about various places on tripadvisor. I try to be objective about them and see both sides if I can. So I'll tell you what I experienced first, and then give you my opinion, and leave you to form yours. I visited Dadong this evening, arriving around 6.15. When I walked in I was... More

After much research, we came to Dadong Duck seeking the definitive Beijing Duck experience. We were greeted with disdain. Much sighing, rolling of eyes and general reluctance. The restaurant was mostly empty so it's not like they had anything better to do. Some discussion and handing-off among the staff until finally someone was willing to come to our table to... More

My husband and I booked dinner at Dadong Dongsi, but arrived at the Dadong at Wangfujing after directions from our hotel. Staff were great, cancelled our reservation at Dongsi at our request and were able to fit us in. Had wonderful cocktail at the bar while waiting for table ( about 20 mins). Meal wonderful. We had a braised eggplant... More

The food was really good. We had a few sides and 2 roasted ducks for a party of 8. They carve the duck table side. My only wish is that we got more of the duck meat. There was a lot of meat left on the duck when they took the duck away, a bit wasteful. But what we did... More

The atmosphere in this restaurant is really great. The "Super Lean Duck" is their signature dish and was really excellent. Service was "ok". We order 3 Veggies and Rice... Broccoli was served almost immediately, once we had finished that, the Asparagus was served... after a while the Dragon Beans were served, then the Duck and Rice.. so don't expect to... More

We ate at Dadong close to Wangfujing Avenue on the 4th floor at Jinbao Place, an up-market shopping mall. The restaurant is modern, very clean and plush. There is a large pond with golden carp and the kitchen with wood-fired ovens is in the middle of the restaurant. You can watch the ducks being cooked and carved. We had a... More
