We had a fine meal here. Not cheap for Chinese standards, but you know that if you dine at the Peninsula (which in Beijing is a confusing combination between hotel and underground mall). Service was attentive and the food is great. Nicely decorated - although they cannot fully hide that they are in a mall :-)

The atmosphere/decoration is very good so this is a great restaurant to entertain and bring clients. The food is very good but it is a mixed bag in a way - some are great and some are really average/passable. Order the prawns with mayonnaise/egg yolk & the steamed cod with garlic in a steam basket & the flat noodles cooked... More

Lovely open Chinese setting. Great service from wait staff. Has English speaking staff. Food average. Food reasonably priced but drinks very expensive.

The food is really very good and the menu interesting, but the setting in The Peninsula shopping arcade behind the fountain is pretty horrible. The food prices are reasonable but the wine and mineral water prices are somewhat ridiculous, even by Beijing's high prices.

Huang Ting is located on the 2nd underground level of the shopping mall under the Peninsula hotel. Nested among luxury shops, the location didn't appeal much to me, but the interior of the place is actually nice. It's done in the style of a Chinese courtyard, but very upscale. When I entered the restaurant at 18:30 on a Saturday, I... More

The restaurant is very nicely decorated. The staff is very helpful and nice. The duck was the most delicious, I have ever tasted so far. The fact that the chef comes to your table to cut the duck in front of you, was a nice touch!

We were staying in the hotel and decided to treat ourselves to a meal in Huang Ting to mark the end of our holiday. The restaurant is unfortunately tucked amongst the shops in the lower levels of the shopping mall but the actual restaurant is beautiful. Designed as an ancient Chinese courtyard in sections the setting was romantic. The menu... More

This beautiful reconstruction of a nobleman's house set behind the lobby waterfall, sets the scene for a lovely evening. We started with the excellent Duck Dumplings with Spicy Sauce, the very good half Beijing Duck (which comes already assembled in the pancakes), and the excellent Crispy Beef. Then came the excellent Combination Suckling Pig, BBQ Pork & Roasted Duck. A... More

The best two things of this restaurant are: the decoration and the amazingly delicious duck. The service is also friendly. The rest of the dishes are just normal though. Nothing special.

Hidden away in the basement of The Peninsula, this restaurant evokes the atmosphere of a long-gone Beijing (or Peiping). We liked the hushed ambience, the discreet service, tables that are not far enough from the others, and above all the exquisite and lovely food! We especially liked the roast duck (definitely much much better than Da Dong), the Horfan noodles... More
