The food was fresh & well prepared. The servers were very nice & explained everything to us. It is OPEN ON SABBATH. Would definitely go back.

This is an expensive place. We've been many times, but on our last visit they added over 12% for service on a night when service wasn't good. Very strange. I also don't understand why they don't write their specials in English, while the rest of the menu is. Most of the clients are foreign.

The staff and the customers at Barood are all friendly and really make all types of visitors welcome. I visited several times during a two week work trip to Jerusalem and enjoy the charm and character of the place. The bar stocks drinks from all over Europe and despite always going for the local brew the draught Guinness is very...

After spending 30 minutes trying to find another restaurant I gave in and wandered into Barood. Best idea ever. The food was excellent (the Tahinah and the Lebaneh were amazing). So was the local beer and grappa. To top it off, they make a Turkisch Sutlac (with some Halva on top) which is to die for. Small place, super friendly...

Good central dowtown location, but off the beaten path down an alley.
Didn't have reservations, but were early enough to get a tiny table squeezed in. Service was quick for a very busy place.
Good drinks selection. A few vegetarian items on the menu. Actually only two main course choices which we ate and were mediocre.

a very nice interior, walls full of photographs, good atmosphere and friendly service.Live music some nights, but local, not blaring pop!Food is good and a varied menu. However, the price is very high, other restaurants within walking distance have equally good food, perhaps without the music, but at half the price.Booking is recommended on any music night.
We visited on a chilly March Sabbath evening having stumbled across the entrance in the alleyway off Yafo street by chance. Yes, it's small and we were wedged in at one point by fellow diners, but the service was excellent and friendly, and our waitress very helpful. The food we had from the special menu (which was given in English)...

My husband and I returned to Barood last night, and we really enjoyed the food and service, but there's one thing to be wary of: the Special Menu is not in English, nor are the prices listed. We had great food but it was more expensive than we expected in this little cafe.
The food is home-style cooking, not haute...

It's not posh; it's not a cafe. The food is very good and different from other restaurants. It has a lot of character.
The service is a bit unfriendly, but OK. The tables are snug together, but the good food makes up for that. We ordered salads and courses from the special menu, and it was delicious.

Whilst in Jerusalem we picked this restaurant from the Lonely Planet on our first trip to this city and decided to give it a second try, this being our second trip. Its a fairly a small what I would prefer to call bar/restaurant with a long bar and tables.
I found the food not over interesting but my wife quite...
