Splendid environment and romantic and also excellent for business meals. Good portion sizes a lot of choice and delicious food. There is tunisian classical music played by a musician in the restaurant. Dim lighting to enhance the ambiance with candles. Price for the level of service is reasonable. Decent wine list.

This restaurant deserves a visit to explore the beautiful interior alone. Food was good but main problem was the staff. The concierge and maitre'd both gave the impression that they were superior to diners. When we explained that 2members of our party of 8 were running late so we would like to wait for them before ordering, menus were rudely... More

Dar El Jeld is the most beautiful restaurant in the oldest part of Tunis. The staff are very attentive and they believe in service of the 'old fashioned' kind. The surrounds are stunning. The kasbah is truly amazing. I really recommend a visit (it's not expensive)

A truly beautiful grand riad style house - such a shame that the restaurant is a complete disaster. They are so bored, arrogant and complacent that they have lost all sight of the basics. The food was mediocre at best and the service was patronising. Clearly they are for now still pulling in the many unsuspecting once off visitors who... More

We went with some colleagues for dinner and it was an outstanding place, inside a beautiful ancient house we were served a "tunisian mojito" which was a great apperitif to start a great and amazing dinner of local cuisine.

I was invited by my client for lunch and told that this is probably the most highly-regarded restaurant in Tunis. It's located in an ancient Dar practically in the Medina, a magnificent building beautifully restored. The food was delicious, from starters to lamb couscous, one of the best ever tried. Apparently it is essential to book. As a no-smoker myself,... More

This is the place to go to if one wants to try tunisian traditional cuisine at its best ! Located at the fringe of the old medina of Tunis, in a former palatial home, " Dar el Jeld" has a subdued atmosphere pervading its beautiful surroundings. While the service is a bit too formal, the food comes usually up to... More

Excellent food, and service was flawless. I enjoyed everything so highly recommend it. I like it because of the atmosphere, so it was perfect to go with friends because as much as it is a beautiful place, you also feel at ease, not like other trendy places where you can sens a lot of formality in the air.

in the heart of the old town, in a typical arab old style house, serving a very authentic and typical tunsian food, this restaurant is a must visit, and one of the best restaurants in Tunisia. the service is great, even if I find it too formal. the waiter was very serious almost upset when dont answer his questions right... This is the most highly-regarded restaurant in Tunis, serving home-style cooking presided over by a lady of the family which has restored this ancient Dar in the medina. Beautiful building with plenty of history. Waiting staff a bit stuffy but good food and wine. The Diwan craft/antiques shop down the street opposite has interesting pieces and is part of the... More
