We came through town on June 8th and had an enjoyable brunch here. We had the breakfast burrito, which has delicious beans, salsa and cheese and either eggs or tofu. It's really huge, so much so that I probably shouldn't have ordered the platter version of it, which comes with grits or potatoes and biscuits. If the waiter had come... More

The Grit is a definite classic in the Classic City and ever so often I have to make a pilgrimage to get a Golden Bowl with veggies and cheese... delicious!!! I've never had an issue with the service, but then again I always avoid the weekend brunch; the options are limited and usually bland and worst of all... I can't... More

Some dishes are better than others here. I have been many times - not by my choice - my friends seem to like it. My experience is that if you stick with the typical diner fare, things tend to be pretty delicious: sandwiches, "burgers," omelets, and their cakes are awesome. When they try to go ethnic or more gourmet is... More

The Grit is my favorite vegan restaurant. Great food, awsome flavors to experience and an atmosphere that is down to earthy. Service has always been exceptional with staff that know much about what they are offering. I enjoy all types of food but if I were ever to become a vegan I would have to move to Athens because the... More

Fairly organic, veggie kind of place, but a nice change from burgers. Price is reasonable and dessert offerings (various cakes) looked great!

Unique and delicious Today I had. Curry spinach and lentil over rice, collards and cheese grits, split pea dal, golden bowl tofu, amaretto peach pie, and vegan brownie to go. Age of Aquarius(5th Dimension) from 1969 and kids with long hair and laid back attitudes. Heaven for a sixty something hippie! Ill be back.

The golden bowl is my go to favorite. Dahl and cornbread holds a close second. Quirky art on the walls. An Athens original.

When I lived in Athens, I ate here all the time, and was excited to finally go back! Not much has changed, and that's a good thing. The Grit does one thing [vegetarian/vegan cuisine] and they do it right. My fiance is a meat-eater and fairly picky, and he thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. He had the grilled cheese [which... More

This restaurant may not be for everyone, but I love places like this; unpretentious with great food and nice wait staff. Eating with a carnivore, a vegan, and a low-fat eating vegetarian, we all found items that we enjoyed on the menu. They even gave me a small side of stir fried vegies with my bagel sandwich when I requested... More

I have never deliberately eaten veggie food before, but REALLY enjoyed this meal. I had the Indian Platter special. Absolutely fantastic, and will definitely eat here again next time I am in town.
