Description: We're certainly far from perfect, but we do try our best to create a winning experience for every single guest, whether they are pairing small plates with wines, enjoying our creative main courses, or just craving some good fish and chips. It's fun for us to meet new people and, well, just make them happy! Our casual beach bistro focuses on unique sauces and contemporary, tropical-themed flavor combinations while maintaining comfortable portions. Lots of fish and seafood. Bar service includes an 80-bottle wine list, local beer, rum drinks, and house specials. The outdoor atmosphere is casual so you can be comfortable in flip flops. Belize's "Restaurant of the Year" award was presented twice to the Bistro in June 2011 and May 2013.

The food and service at the Bistro is just outstanding, John and Ellen have created a beautifully intimate environment with a casual sophistication that makes everyone feel welcome and every meal special. The menu is inspired; a perfect selection of unique, mouth watering dishes that never disappoint. We have dined at the Bistro about a dozen times over the past... More

Ok we WERE having a great dinner here...until the weirdest thing happened. We were there early at 5:00 for dinner because we wake up early & we were exhausted from a busy day. We had a very good dinner & a few cocktails. When we got told that basically we were getting cut off when they delivered our 4th drink...in... More

Dear Leigh, You are right. This does sound like a very weird experience. My husband and I, who own the Bistro and are usually on hand to supervise front-of-house operations, were out town that night at an industry meeting. So I can't answer from first-hand experience, but I did check with my employees after hearing your story. The only thing... More

Ellen and John have an amazing restaurant with the Maya Beach Bistro. This is our third visit to the Maya Beach area and we always enjoy meals and time spent in the Bistro. Mary Kay is an outstanding chef. Breakfast is tasty and large enough to carry you through the day (Mmmmm shrimp & grits) but you want to return... More

We went twice to this venue and both times the food and service were excellent.Imagintive dishes that looked and tasted good, an interesting wine list, try the red wine from California "The Riddler" this is agreat wine and my guess is red Zin and Cab Sauv. The best in town? I think its up there.

We had many great meals while staying at Maya Beach Hotel. It's worth it to stay at the hotel just to be able to eat every meal at the bistro. They have a great, cheap happy hour from 3-5 every day. Drinks are $4BZ & appies are $8BZ. We tried everything on the happy hour menu the first day we... More

Best place to go in the Maya Beach are for vegetarian food. The chef is very creative. The views don't beat the nearby Singing Sands, but still great.

I've generally thought that Caribbean travel involved compromising cuisine in exchange for sunshine and great beaches. The Bistro at Maya Beach Hotel has taught me otherwise. Outstanding menu combining local ingredients and flavours with inventive imports. Great execution and lovely presentation (attractive and creative but appropriate to the very relaxed setting). Staff were engaging, attentive and competent. Avi at the... More

We loved this great little bistro for dinner, and went back and enjoyed tapas style dining. Great waterfront location, wonderful service and brilliant food

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Maya Beach Hotel Bistro. The food was creative and delicious. In addition, the service was outstanding and the location on the beach was very nice. It was, by far, the best meal during our 10 day trip to Belize. It's worth the 15 minute drive from Placencia to check out this... More

Maya Beach Bistro was one of the culinary highlights of our trip. After a week of mediocre food, it was a nice surprise. We are vegetarians so it was difficult to find restaurants that catered to us. Maya Beach had a wonderful menu for us, good knowledge on what qualified as vegetarian as well as excellent service. Definitely recommend.
