Boss Oyster has the freshest, yummiest food around. It is very casual but if you want "straight from the bay" seafood, this is your place. The staff was friendly and helpful! It is definitely worth stopping for lunch or dinner!
Lunch at Boss Oyster was the best meal I had while visiting this past weekend. The raw oysters were superb! The seafood pasta salad was very good and different. Service was attentive and location on the water was perfect. Prices were less than other restaurants we had visited. I will definitely be doing "the boss" again when I am in...

lisa h, Thanks for visiting the Boss Oyster on your recent visit. Field and Stream Magazine April 2013 ask if the Apalachicola Oyster was the best in the world. THe author/taster wrote the oyster at the Boss Oyster was the best of the best. We have our own oyster boats captained by experienced oystermen who work for the Boss exclusively....

Mid afternoon lunch at Boss Oyster May 9. My wife had fried soft shell crab. She raved that it was the best she has ever had, and she is a soft shell lover from way back. I had steamed oysters that were fresh, plump, and just the right sea tang. A couple of glasses of unremarkable chardonnay and we left...

irrhodes, Thanks for your visit and your kind review. The Apalachicola bay is an estuary for the blue crab. The environment is perfect as the blue crab migrates according to salinity levels. Too little salinity and they can migrate towards the Gulf to find the right spot. Too much salinity and they can migrate up the Apalachicola river where the...

We loved sitting outside on the old, wood deck and watching the fishing boats come in. I would highly recommend the crab cake basket. Crab cake was one of the best that I've had and I've tried them from Florida to Maryland and back! Great coleslaw and cheese grits too! We had started with a smoked fish dip which is...

The oysters are delightful! I am not an oyster lover, as my husband is. I will eat them cooked, but he loves them raw. I had them steamed and they were wonderful! No grit at all in them. We shared a fried shrimp plate and the shrimp were big and sweet tasting and fried to perfection. We will go again....

This rustic restaurant was a great find. We enjoyed the outdoor seating with great water views. The shrimp were amazing! The service was great, too.
JENEinvegas, Thanks for finding us and thanks for your review. We serve extra jumbo shrimp that retain their moisture and size if they are cooked with the tails on. Ordinary gets boring. The river location is one of a kind along a magnificent Florida river WE love our waitstaff Thanks for the kind words we need them, Caroline and Larry...

Great outdoor seating. The menu has a lot to offer. We had broiled oysters with cheese bacon and tabacco and fish dip. Very good. Service was great and they know how to dress a Bloody Mary. Don't go if you need foo foo!
advisegirl thanks for your review, we are an old florida coastal restaurant. Typical along the coastlines of this wonderful state that reward you for traveling that extra distance. Fresh caught oysters brought in by our own boats, all that goes on along a pristine old florida river. These are the kinds of things we stumbled on 23 years ago and...

We were told that it is a must to eat here. So we did. We had dinner with wine but were a little disappointed overall. Of course the location is the views and we enjoyed that, but we felt our food could have been nicer. Nothing wrong with it, but maybe we expect too much having had a seafood business...

Seventeen of us arrived about 1pm. Thirteen of us sat at a large table next door. We were the only people in the room. The server brought us menus. We explained that we would need separate checks--six couples and one single. He returned to tell us that it was the policy that only five checks could be written for one...

There are a couple of rules that most restaurants have to ensure smooth customer flow and to enhance service. Number one. Please wait to be seated. This ensures that you will be acknowledged, handed menus and assigned waitstaff. Number two. Separate checks for no larger than 5 persons at a table. The preferred method for greatly enhanced service is to...
