The decor in the this place is dated and the menu covers are worn and peeling, but the food is excellent. My wife and I focused on the sea food dishes since we don't eat a lot of meat, and both the crispy lobster and the halibut were outstanding. The service was less than perfect When we ordered our cocktails,... More

We have eaten at Oval Room many years ago. You can see many Washingtonian politicians dinning there. Very bust at lunch time as well. Have to have a reservations. The service was excellent and the food as well. This is a pricey place. But the atmosphere ıs ready too heavy maybe. More

My cousin was in town so we went to dinner here after seeing the high tripadvisor rankings along with Tom Sietsema's 3.5 star rating. We were not disappointed. First, the service was impeccable. Our waiter Frank was excellent and offered many helpful suggestions for the menu. We had the Hawaiian Sweet Shrimp, Spaghetti Flavored with Jalape Smoked Uni Carbonara, and... More

Had a fantastic lunch here where the menu did not disappoint. Admittedly small portions but therefore just right for lunch and a nice walk through the park to the White House followed by tea at The W overlooking the best view in Washington DC. More

My husband and I enjoyed dinner at the Oval Room on a recent visit to Washington. The location couldn't be better. We walked from our hotel and took in the evening views of the White House and surrounding parks. The Oval Room's menu was great, the dishes were seasonal and very fresh, and the presentation very pretty. While the decor... More

Don't expect large portions at the Oval, it's all about quality and taste. We had an amazing meal, the pairing of the food really brings out the best taste. The service is wonderful they did great to explain the ingredients of each dish. When we arrived at 7.30pm on Saturday night it was not busy and while it was romantic... More

A lovely restaurant that values its clientele. We dined as a couple and were expecting great food and service - we were not disappointed. We chose the tasting menu with paired wines. We were very well attended by Judy (food) and Morgan (sommelier). Both were friendly and described each pairing in great detail. Every aspect of the food and drink... More

We visited The Oval Room for a special occasion dinner. We had a group of 4, and had reservations through OpenTable. We arrived about 20 mins early, and were accommodated promptly. The restaurant does have valet parking for $8, which is a huge help for downtown DC. Location is just a block or two away from the White House. The... More

Excellent food, unique preparations and flavor pairings and helpful, precise service all make for a great dining experience at The Oval Room. Our server, David, was very helpful in guiding us through the menu and offered great wine pairing suggestions. Definitely the best meal we had during our visit to DC. More

We chose the Oval Room for an odd reason -- it was the Washington Post's top choice for a quiet place to eat, and it was close to our hotel. We had little idea what to expect, other than it had an unusual menu. In short, we were delighted with what we found. We went on a quiet Monday night,... More
