We just had dinner last night at the Old Ebbitt and have been frequent patrons over the past few years. It used to be our favorite spot in DC but unfortunately will stick to the bar for soup and a beer. We started out with a very nice waiter but halfway through our meal a nice young woman took over... A very good, traditional american restaurant with a good menu, nice wines, a great atmosphere, good service and some great history due to it's proximity to the White House More

A White House security person was kind enough to suggest the Old Ebbitt Grill for lunch after our tour. It was easy to find, great food, atmosphere and service. I tried "Walters Favorite" sandwich and it was absolutely wonderful! Also want to mention that the prices were very reasonable, given its great DC location. More

Old Ebbits is a great place to meet friends and co-workers for a meal and/or drinks. The atmosphere lively, but due to the many different halls/rooms in the restaurant, it still maintains a somewhat private feel. The location is great and the decoration adds to the feel of its history as the oldest restaurant/bar in DC. More

This is a great weekend brunch destination, right in the heart of walking around and sight-seeing by the White House. Although I think it's a Clyde's menu, it is still the old building that has added on another restaurant by it's side (a deli?) and claimed some of it's menu. The drinks and food were all good and wait staff... More

We went to number of restaurants in Washington, D.C. and this was our favorite. The food was excellent, but what I really liked was that it had real character, something most restaurants are missing. More

The best crab cakes we have ever had! Combine that with the excellent service and the dynamite soups. Very good for lunch or dinner. More

Visited Old Ebbitt Grill in May 2012. Bartender was great and made you feel welcome. Check out the White House store across the street while you are waiting for your table. Friend had a Lobster Roll that claims was the best he ever had. Interesting History More
