Description: At Sonoma Restaurant and Wine Bar, our culinary mission is straightforward - use the best local ingredients as simply as possible. New American Cuisine places an emphasis on seasonal ingredients that are regionally available, and our menu changes frequently to reflect the Mid-Atlantic’s offerings. The first floor, a bustling, “upscale-casual” bistro and wine bar, offers superior moderately-priced cuisine by using the best local, organic, and naturally raised ingredients. The menu bears a southern European influence, and is comprised of four groups: cheese and charcuterie, handmade pasta and pizzas, wood-grilled meats and fish, and organic salads and produce. The second floor features a lounge and reserve wine bar along with a dining room for private events. Reservations are strongly recommended and can be taken by telephone or through OpenTable. $20/bottle corkage fee (2 bottle maximum) $3/person cake fee (including cupcakes)

I wanted to write a review about Sonoma, because it is complicated. They have a reservation service, which is not the restaurant itself. My complaint actually has to do with the service. I was so unhappy with my experience with them I was planning on cancelling my reservation, they had rules, they had dictates, and none of them lined up... More

Four of us had a very good dinner at the Sonoma Wine Bar. It was in "our neighborhood" on Capital Hill on our vacation. The space is charming, one of those long narrow rooms with a bar at the front and red brick walls. We had wines (a pinot nero and a blend of syrah, cabernet, merlot), a Zardetto prosecco... More

My colleague and I had a great business lunch at Sonoma ... just yesterday. It is near the Capitol, shotgun arrangement with long bar down one side and very simple in decor. (Decor ... there was decor?) Food was really good, however. They offer regular entrees to be sure, but we opted for cheese and charcuterie boards with fresh french... More

Busy with Hill staffers on a Friday night, but relaxed and easy to enjoy. Cordial service, excellent, varied menu with plenty of choices (including portion size) and a small but good wine list. Very well priced, too. More

Lucky, eh? A special menu. But I think that any regular day's menu would be just fine. Fine soup and salad; great service, even at peak hour lunch on Friday. More

This place doesn't actually zap you to the high hills above above Sonoma but itdoes whisper California. Well presented fare available in half portions, interesting specials and a solid wine list give a good evening out. They are kind to those who need to make a curtain and on the whole kind in general. Saw families dining there sharing lovely looking... More

Perhaps I'm not the best reviewer as neither I nor my wife drink wine, but our dinner was pretty good; we both ordered pasta dishes and liked what we got. I also got meatballs as a side which was very good. The cheese plate was fine but they should include more bread with it. More

We return to Sonoma every 6-8 weeks for three things: amazing pasta, outstanding wine selections (and a wait staff who know their &%$# about it!), and the appetizer of grilled sardines. The remainder of the quasi-seasonal menu holds hearty soups, divinely crafted salads, beautifully prepared meats and fish, and tempting desserts. The only mishap we've encountered was an over-cooked duck... More

I drank white wine from Virginia for the very first time, I actually will always drink local wines where ever I travel. The food was great as well as the atmosphere. Ideal place for solo travelers or couples. More

Went here on the advice of our hotel desk. Big mistake. Pricing might be considered reasonable for DC standards, but not for this boy from the country. My wife had 3 scallops, 1 new potato, and 4 pieces of broccoli and the price was $23. I had a hamburger and fries and it was $16. More
