Strolling down Lexington Avenue for brunch, we were lured in to Chez Le Chef by the undeniably eccentric and even charming decor. Although it was empty (despite lines waiting at Penelope's just up the street) we thought we would give this place a try. We ordered scrambled eggs and omelette. And I have to say, were mightily disappointed. The scrambled... More

While staying in NYC, my husband and I decided to try to find a place that served brunch on Sunday. We should have known not to stay there because no one else was there and other restaurants had over an hour wait. The décor is atrocious with fake flowers and garlands everywhere for all holidays. We ordered fruit juice which... More

Lured in by the eccentric and charming decor, we found ourselves waited on by the owner, a self promoting freak with a large chef's toque and even larger white handlebar mustache who has plastered the walls with his own grinning visage posing with any minor celeb who had the misfortune... I ordered "baker's burger" which came with cabbage and mashed potatoes. I thought it was a lovely meal, full of contrasting and exciting flavor. The presentation was very nice. People that write bad reviews should go back to Olive Garden for their unlimited breadsticks. Haven't tried the deserts, but they are probably really good, the chef and baker seems like... More

Sadly, I do not mean the good kind of extraordinary. It's like entering someone else's mental illness made manifest in a restaurant. There are knick-knacks cluttering every surface and Christmas lights and plastic Christmas greens on the railings (though it is August as I write this). The tables also all have numbers in stands like you'd see in a high-volume... More
