My work mates said that "you have to go to a ruin bar, they are so cool" so I did. Found this place in the area behind the synagouge and it turns out to be very cool, live jazz music in one corner, outdoor area, odd art, nice staff and lots of different people. Drank some rose and wished I... More

Plenty of students, young people, hungarian and foreigners in this awesome location that will surprise you! Two floors, lot of rooms,... More

this is a great place to meet friends, classmates and colleagues to socialize. Not a place for a couple without any friends. What I was amazed you can even bring your dog. You can play table soccer, have a few beers and smoke the shisha. It has an open air for smokers and a closed space for non smokers. Few... More

Hearing about ruin bars, I wasn't sure what to expect. This bar turned out to be one of the coolest places in Budapest. Amazing interior, great music and a delicious micro brew! More

Stange, quirky, individual. My friends hated it to start with, but one by one remaked "It kinda grows on you..." Food at restaurant next door absolutely outstanding value for money! More

One of the few places in Budapest we actually saw people. Huge place, artsy decorations, dogs, dreads and courius tourists. Bands playing old and new folk music in different rooms. Cool and dirty. More

Quirky, lively and different. Definately worth dropping in for a few pints. Some creative thinking went into decorating this "warehouse" garden pub. More

Most famous Hungarian "romkocsma". Always full of people, the place itself has a unique atmosphere and interieur. Fried onion rings, steak potato, burger and warm sandwiches - with bacon and bryndza cheese are a must. More

Szimpla kert is one of the oldest among ruin pubs in Budapest and the most well-known. It is also probably the biggest and most unique one. Its full of tourists unfortunately but what can you do, when something is a must see place... Otherwise it has a very vibrant atmosphere, great cocktails in the cocktail bar, beers are ok also,...
