I heard mixed reviews about Jonah's and was undecided about eating here. I was looking forward to fresh seafood and ordered scallops for entree and barramundi for my main. The four scallops served were each the size of a thumbrnail on a oversized plate with a blood orange salad. The scallops and blood oranges in the salad were stale. My... More

Many times if the restaurant has a view, it lacks delicious, or fresh food, or the service is wanting, or the decor is run down, or something else gives way and the view is left to make up for the errors of the restaurant - NOT in this case. We have returned often to this sophisticated, sumptuous restaurant for our... More

On our way to Sydney we met up with our daughter for a special dinner. The MaitreD' (Ben) and his staff were exceptional. The food was beautifully presented and was enhanced by the fine wine that was available. The views down the coast and over the surfing beach provide a superb outlook. This is not a large Restaurant and there... More

Great views from the restaurant over Newcastle Beach can't compensate for the pretentious service, average uninspiring food and overpriced food. This restaurant tries to be 4 star but comes acros as a 3 star hotel noshery selling wedding food to the clientele as a la carte. Still it does have the views...

The only good thing about this place is the view which looks over Newcastle beach. The food was ok but not worth the price. I have eaten better for less in Newcastle. The maitre d' is snooty as hell and turned his nose up because I was dressed casually having just travelled up by train from Sydney. He even asked... More

Paymasters restaurant celebrated their staff party at Jonah's restaurant, we had a table of 20 staff members. The service was exceptional and was well serviced the whole time as well as looking after the rest of the full restaurant. Food was of very high standard and good to see the old chef return after a brief stint away in his... More

My husband and I booked a window table, which I highly recommend you do as the view over the beach is fabulous. We ate the confit duck and the salmon. Both dishes were perfect both in presentation and taste. We ordered sides which were lovely but not needed due to the size of the mains. Dessert was the best I... More

What a beautiful place to eat. Amazing view, perfect atmosphere all topped of with the piano playing in the background. Staff were so attentive & we could not fault them. The meal was a bit of a let down. Not bad by any means but just average and for the price I expected better.
