Service was friendly and on point. Food was delicious, modern and very well presented, as good as you could find in any larger city. Definately worth visiting when in town.

Some of best food in NZ, and everything was beautifully presented. It's all a set menu, either 5 or 8 courses but it's just right. The cauliflower app was really delicious and different, and the lamb was excellent as well. I will admit at one point we waited almost an hour between courses, which could be annoying and we did... It started with the reservation. I wanted to head off any of my party trying to pay and Larissa was a wonderful accomplice in organising this. She even went to the trouble of arranging a la carte menus for our table that had no prices. It got better when we arrived - I was greeted by name with a knowing... More

After being a fan of this groups eateries I was seriously dissapointed when we brought our out of town guests in with a booking ony to find the ala carte option had been removed. We used to look forward to visiting the wharf restaurants. With lovley English lass called Katty and the American chap next door at Finz who always... More

Not exactly our local but we keep going back. We have tried the degustation menu with wines three times now and have never been disappointed. We have tried the fish and meat degustation. Both excellent. The wines plentiful and appropriate to the dish. Staff attentive and make it feel a personal experience. Will we go back?....................of course we will!!!!!!!!! What... More

Firstly, the food was incredible - once we received it. We had a table of six, and we had a reservation. we planned to have the five course menu and some of our group ordered tempura oysters for starters as well which they said were really good. Sadly it took 3 hours for ou meal to be served & completed.... More

I am pleased that you felt the food was incredible. Our Chefs are very talented and passionate about food and this is very much expressed in the food they produce and serve here at Wai Restaurant. It is unfortunate that you were not happy with the length of time you were in the restaurant for, As I pointed out to... More

From entering Wai to departing 2 hours later, was an experience in excellence all the way, a culinary delight. The hostesses knowledge of the menu helped us choose a wonderful range of tastes, textures and flavors over our 3 courses. It was visually artistic and an absolute sensation to the taste-buds. This is not about eating food, it's about having... More

We dined at Wai while in Queenstown recently. Had some big expectations due to recent reviews and while overall we enjoyed Wai, would not put it in the "amazing" category. Service was generally attentive, we did however find on our arrival that the normal a la carte menu was no longer available and that the only option was either a... More

Thank you for your kind words. I agree, our chefs do cook fish exeptionally well. Although we offer some superb meat dishes also, I am continuously amazed at the combination of textures and flavours our chefs create to celebrate seafood. We hope to welcome you back to Wai in the future. Kind regards, Larissa More
