This was the highlight of us 3 girls getaway. 5 went to dinner. We had all small plates on menu first. All superb. If had to choose favourite it would be the squid cakes. Mains- Pork Belly was melt in the mouth. Salmon was cooked to perfection. Desserts. The raisins with the mousse were a dream but again we tasted... More

Service excellent, very friendly. Fantastic mash. Very nice steak. Beautifully cooked salmon, with a tasty beetroot dressing, although disappointed to find two small bones In the salmon. Well worth a visit. Panacotta was a little grainy but matched with the almond crumble and berry compote, very tasty.

Good food and very friendly welcoming staff. When we arrived without a reservation we were told that were would be a delay due to large party so had the option of leaving. We were glad we stayed as we were able to relax and enjoy the view over a glass of wine and some delicious bread and dips.

This wonderfully situated restaurant was the venue of our wine club which dines at a different restaurant for lunch every two months. Many of the ladies came across the harbour by ferry on this lovely sunny day, which added to the fun, others came by car. The meal was, as always, top class, with fresh fish from the local fishing... We visited Cobar last Thursday and were pleased to find the restaurant quite busy - always a good sign. The food was top drawer - oysters as an entree and rolled pork belly as a main - it simply meted in your mouth. The wine list was wide ranging and it was easy to buy a number of good wines... More

Visited on a fabulous Wellington evening, and while waiting for our food, were treated to dolphins frolicking in the harbour. While I can't credit the restaurant with that, they did service a lovely meal with a good drinks selection and a nice atmosphere

We wanted an inexpensive lunch. We looked at this menu and then checked the chocolate cafe, next door. They seemed very busy and not a lot cheaper. We were very pleased that we chose to lunch at the Cobar. The lamb sausages were fantastic. My wife's chicken salad was pretty good. It ended up being about 15% more than the... More

Ordered the chicken salad and was so disappointed it was a pile of salad greens from a supermarket scattered with 5 small croutons, tiny slices of Camembert and thumb nails slices of chicken around the outside of the plate - underwhelming to say the least. Asked for a straw for the drink and it never arrived.

We dined at Cobar in a party of 6 on a perfect Wellington evening. This wasn't our first visit, but we hadn't been there for some time. The service, atmosphere, menu and wine list, and the actual meals at Cobar matched the impeccable weather to a T. The food was delicious, in particular the Pork Belly, one of my favourite... More

The joy of Cobar really is in the getting there. Leave your four-wheeled gas guzzler at the wharf in Wellington and board the feisty harbour ferry for a cruise on a nice day before disembarking on the wharf on the eastern shore within walking distance of Cobar. The restaurant itself is a strange fishbowl like affair, which for most of... More
