Went to this restaurant based on a recommendation, and were not disappointed with the service and foo. However the evening was spoiled when the manager and doorman started to have a domestic in front of the patrons. Such a shame they spoiled what would otherwise have been a lovely evening.

Please... Keep walking for your own health. My wife got sick from the chicken and my steak was crap. Worst food I have ever had.

Got lured in by the promise of a free bottle of wine and garlic bread. The wine was below average so was teh 4 slices of buttery toast they called garlic bread - but I guess you get what you pay for :-)). The service was OK but the rest of the food was just as tasteless adn boring as... More

We visited Lygon St to experience what Melbourne's 'Little Italy' had to offer. We chose Alpino based on the restaurant being busy and a reasonable menu. Staff were extremely friendly at the commencement of the meal. After ordering and waiting over an hour and watching other customers come in and receive their meals. We were told it was on its... We were just walking around Lygon St, looking for somewhere to eat. As we walked past Alpino we were stopped by one of the older men out the front trying to entice us with free drinks. We declined this offer only to be stopped 4 steps later by the next older gent again this time offering us a bottle of... More

Went to Lygon St on our last night in Melbourne as my husband and I really felt like a good bowl of pasta. We got stopped by one of the old guys out the front and were haggled with - we were offered our first drinks free plus our garlic bread. The prices were a little cheaper than the others... More

We went to Lygon St for another Italian meal on our last night in Melbourne. Many of them haggle offering deals to entice you in. We were offered free corkage and free garlic bread for entrees but it was the chilli mussels on the menu for $18.90 and the other food (including any pasta marinara for $22.90) that actually enticed... We went to the Pompeii Exhibition in Melbourne and as our tour started at 8pm thought that we'd take the kids to Lygon Street, just to top off the Italian experience. Whilst looking for a restaurant, we were approached by a "friendly fellow" from the Alpino restaurant who said how beautiful the kids were and said that he'd do us... More
