I've been to the original 'Old Kingdom' in Smith St, Fitzroy... But I enjoyed the meal in Surrey Hill much much more.. I suppose the duck flavours were all the same, but the atmosphere was brighter, a happier vibe. It's quite loud, I recommend going in groups (double dating) or similar. It's not the most romantic place and certainly not... More

There are Peking Ducks and there are Peking Ducks! This restaurant specialises in crispy, succulent Peking Duck that is not dipping in fat. Unlike other restaurants where they serve a few slices of the duck with pancake, the restaurant slices the whole duck up onto a serving plate. So you get the thigh, leg, neck and head (if you want)... More

This restaurant is in Surrey Hills, a suburb of melbourne ...I knew it was going to be good as upon arrival I was greeted by the sight of 100 plus chinese smiling faces...I was possibly the only non chinese born person there.... To the food..Duck is the name of the game and it is best to order when you book..unbelievable... More

Duck is absolutely delicious! Crisp skin, juicy meat, and very thin but flavoursome pancakes! But that's about the only good thing about the food here. We ordered the Special Fried Rice, but it's basically just plain rice stir fried with a few frozen vegetables & bbq pork. I don't even think they season the fried rice as it was plain... More

Occassionally, one really gets a huge hankering for Peking Duck. And when the Peking Duck Hankering strikes, what better place to make a bee-line too- Old Kingdom on Smith St. Don't expect anything from the service or decor, but go there purely for good peking duck pancakes, succulunt duck pieces and good fried noodles with duck. The only criticism is... More

We ordered 3 styles duck; 1. Peking duck with pancake that we have to roll by ourselves; 2. Sautéed with bean sprout (noodle or ramen are additional); 3. Duck soup. The duck is not as fatty as usual Peking duck, and the skin is so crispy! The pancake is very soft and thin, it was lovely. We added extra noodle... More

Uninspiring is the word that leaps to mind. There are 2 sittings at this restaurant, we chose the late sitting so we wouldn't be rushed. The waitresses English was pretty ordinary so the meal was poorly explained and within 5 minutes of sitting our duck was being carved at the table. Then noodles and soup arrived shortly after and within 20 minutes of... This Old Kingdom in Surrey Hills is ran by the brother of the owner in Smith Street, Collingwood. I would recommend this place to all my friends for Peking duck. Reasonably price and service is always good.

We have been here a few times over several years, and the duck has always been the thing, Its always crowded, the service is so-so, but the duck is always good. We always think that there will never be enough, but by the time we have worked through half a ducks worth of pancakes and extra's and perhaps a side... More

What can I say except DUCK! The duck dishes and concept is just fantastic. The duck meat is delicious and the skin was just bloody amazing! I'm sure everyone goes here for the duck but the fried wantons and dim sims were delish too. The $1.50 corkage per person (unlimited drinks) was also very well received!
