Matsumoto seems to have been around for about ten years. I think one of the reasons for it's longetivity is it's typical cleansingly fresh food & wonderful service. “A hidden gem and quiet achiever”

This unassuming Japanese restaurant in Brunswick East is an absolute delight, the food has that very effect that eating Japanese food gives you,its cleansing,fresh and so so tasty. Recently discovered this suburban gem & keep going back! The sushi boat is fun & delicious - perfect amount of sushi & sashimi for 2 people. The set banquet is fantastic value. Who doesn't love sushi that arrives on an oversized wooden ship?! The agedashi tofu is a winner and byo is a plus. More

We are regulars at Matsumoto - we keep going back for the great food, great service and great value. I think I have eaten the whole menu. Favourites include the sashimi sharing plate, yakatori and tempura (of course). The BYO is great too. More
