The mixed oysters are great especially the pear one, absolutely gorgeous! Blue eye was moist and fresh and smelt amazing. The flavours of the squid salad are very nice. Good chips and nice bread. Great location beautiful view. Very pleasant afternoon. More

Went here for lunch, nice view, fresh oyster but the atmosphere is average. We ordered fried squid salad but got chewy & soggy squid instead (80% uneatable)& salad dressing was very diluted. Steak was more like schnitzel serve in a bed of stock. More

Obviously being an oyster farm, the product is a feature of the restaurant. You can even get them to take away in the downstairs service area, open or unopened, and with the sauces. The upstairs is a restaurant, and not limited to seafood. There was good choice on the menu and we each enjoyed our choices - well cooked and... More

Brought fresh oysters for lunch one day and they were nice but would have been better had they been freshly shucked. One pack only had 11 in it instead of 12 but as we had already driven back to Hobart there was nothing we could do about it. Shop prices for other items (sauces, roullade, chocs etc) were expensive. Returned... More

We had a quick lunch at the retail shop and cafe on the ground floor of Barilla Bay today. Both of us had pies, which were without exception the nastiest pies either my husband or I have ever eaten. My scallop curried pie was full of congealed orange colored tasteless sauce which was so thick it did not coat either... More

When I first arrived Hobart, I heard about Barilla Bay Oysters and I couldn't help myself but have some. Having come from the Sydney, I was used to freshly shucked Oysters in the Sydney Fish Market. Here, I didn't get that. The Oysters were pre packaged in boxes, ready for sale. I bought a couple of dozen for myself, and... More

My husband and I decided to go driving yesterday and ended up at Barilla Bay Oyster farm restaurant. It just happened to be lunch time so we stayed and are so glad we did. The restaurant has a few stairs to go up to the dining room and it was very light and glass floor to ceiling windows for a... More

After dining here a few times in the past and finding it exceptional, the new menu looked good, what a let down the food has gone extremely down hill, dont get me wrong the oysters were fantastic, but hte mains are terrible. Duck, salmon, beef wellington, all were real bad, over cooked, covered in salt. Certainly not reccommended. As for... More

We love Oysters and were stopping just to have a look. Their well stocked delicatessen shop was so tempting, we had to stay at the restaurant and have 2 dozen fresh big oysters on the spot. It is a great venue, top food, $59.00 for 30 oysters and a bottle of Tassie wine - you cannot go wrong with that.... More
