During our recent trip in Kangaroo Island. we ate at the Marron During our recent trip in Kangaroo Island we ate at the Marron Cafè two times in a row and were simply delighted by the quality of food and the excellent wines. As its name suggests, the Cafè serves marrons (a specie of crayfish) cooked in many different ways.... More

A nice little cafe in the middle of nowhere, like most of Kangaroo Island. We had coffee with friends and had a quick look at the marron and tasted the wine. Not much else really. More

All the hype about the marron had my expectations very high; so I was disappointed that my marron lunch relied so much on the garlic to have any flavor. My husband chose a spicy chicken dish instead of marron, and it was excellent. More

This was the first time I have had Marron and although perfectly tasty I was expecting a lot more. I think my expectations were built up a bit too high by friends who claim it tastes better than lobster (a really bold claim, and for me, I must disagree with). We had the platter which was beautifully presented with lots... More

There are very few nice upmarket restaurants on KI so we were keen to try out the Marron Cafe. The location is not bad, a short drive off the main road and with rural views. It was interesting to see the Marron in tanks. I can't comment on the wine as the bloke doing the wine tasting ignored me completely... More

We had the platter. $80 for about 4 smaller cold Marron, 3 larger cooked Marron, 2 scallops, 6 prawns, salad, fruit, garlic pita bread & 3 housemate sauces. Impeccable! We had a bottle of the Two Wheeler Creek Sauvignon Blanc also. We bought 3 bottles to take home & a bottle of the chili honey sauce. Perfect location, beautiful fod... More

We had seafood platter, mud cake, honey ice cream there. They are all top-notch. Seafood platter costs $80. It is enough for two person. You get about 3 marrons, prepared in two -ways, 3 sauces, 6 prawns, 2 scallops, pita bread, some salad and fruit. A bottle of sauvignon blanc matches perfectly with the food. They don't over charged for... More

We visited this restaurant transiting between Snellings view on the north side of the island and Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo island. The Marron (which are large freshwater crawfish) were fresh and excellent. The people who run the place were very nice and provided us with insight into their Marron farming operation. A great place for a nice meal! More

had the marron entree and then the marron platter. they were good although perhaps a tad expensive considering the portion sizes, however they are like crayfish so we expected to pay a bit more. fresh and cooked marron were available to buy and the wine tasting was fun just next door. worth a visit if you like seafood.
