There are very few nice upmarket restaurants on KI so we were keen to try out the Marron Cafe. The location is not bad, a short drive off the main road and with rural views. We had the platter. $80 for about 4 smaller cold Marron, 3 larger cooked Marron, 2 scallops, 6 prawns, salad, fruit, garlic pita bread & 3 housemate sauces. Impeccable! We visited this restaurant transiting between Snellings view on the north side of the island and Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo island. The Marron (which are large freshwater crawfish) were fresh and excellent. The people who run the place were very nice and provided us with insight into their Marron farming operation. A great place for a nice meal! More

had the marron entree and then the marron platter. they were good although perhaps a tad expensive considering the portion sizes, however they are like crayfish so we expected to pay a bit more. fresh and cooked marron were available to buy and the wine tasting was fun just next door. worth a visit if you like seafood. More
