WOW! Such fresh sushi, great atmosphere and really good value. For two people it's less than $40 for us both to walk out stuff full of fresh sushi. Takoyaki is delicious, as is the eggplant entree. Sushi boat ($30 for a huge selection - heaps for 2 to share - adding an entree to share is seriously pushing it for... More

Wasai is a great restaurant for casual mid week meals. It gets very busy but the service is almost always fast and the food is always great. The Tori Mayonaise & Aburi Salmon Rolls are some of my favorites. I suggest that if you plan on going to Wasai that you book in advance to avoid missing out. More

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Adelaide - and definitely my favourite Japanese restaurant. The food here is fresh, reliably great, and very generous. They have a great sake and wine list, and have share plates, mains and large dishes for larger groups to share. More

The soba salad so simple but so perfect - is that shredded deep fried daikon on top? Brilliant. Best generously sliced salmon sashimi w Ikura this side of the Pacific. The roe was not the tasty large ones I've had elsewhere, so batsu. Rice was perfect. The complimentary edamame with my plum wine's a nice touch. Served quickly and by... More

Tucked off the main strip of Gouger Street is Wasai. This little gem is well worth the visit! Not the cheapest, but definitely not the most expensive, the menu features all of the traditional Japanese favourites. Every table is given a bowl of edamame beans to snack on while choosing what you'd like for dinner. The entrees of gyoza and... More

Having lived in Tokyo, I was very excited to discover this gem in my Australian backyard. Wasai serves heart-warmingly authentic Japanese food, from its perfectly presented sashimi boat to the exquisite chirashi-zushi. Indulge in a glass of top grade umeshu (plum wine) to go with dinner. Perfect for anyone hunting down authentic Japanese in Adelaide. More

Not much else to say, except that the food was great. Complimemtary Edamame to start with which were well flavoured and not too salty. Prices are good, with nice light tempura, excellent ramen noodles. The sushi and sashimi options also looked great but it will have to wait for next trip to Adelaide. If there is a large group a... We went with a group of 6 girls and were very surprised how cheap it actually was! $40 per head and were very full. Sashimi and plenty of sake included! We will return! One downfall was that we requested that the food not come out all together, this just didn't happen. Thus we couldn't slowly enjoy the food we needed... More

We frequent Wasai about once a week, as we live nearby. The consistant standard of the meals and service places this restaurant as one of the best along the Gouger Street strip. The staff are courteous and uber efficient.....we never have to wait long for the meal to arrive. We highly recommend Wasai to anyone who is looking for an... More
