retro, friendly service, best of three in a shady lane used by canberrans walking to work and grabbing a coffee for brekky, we had eggs florentine and the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup...yummy. plenty of fair trade tea and coffee. sit inside for comfort or outside for people watching.
My favourite lunch spot. The service is always spot on, even when busy, I've never been left waiting. The portions are also very generous and the prices very reasonable. The casual atmosphere is also very relaxing. Last time I was here, I tried the lamb shanks with pumpkin for $12.50. Got a huge plate and it was delicious.
Used to come here often as a grad student; used to have short blacks and a slice of cake.
Streamlined operation - a testament to its longevity - recommended for visitors
