Excellent location, but there are better choices only a few steps away. Having said that so well known it makes for an excellent meeting point. Not the cleanest place.

Gus's has a great reputation based on decades of great service. Although, a suspected change in management has sent the cafe down hill. My last visit was a disappointment, I received poor service from waitresses and payed way too much for a meal that was not up to standard. It's a shame such a well known and loved business has... Coffee is always bad, and you wait years for it, same goes for the food.

Gus's is a Canberra institution, and can have a really good atmosphere. Just check the glasses/cutlery are clean before eating anything.

Im not too much of a sweet tooth, however tend to treat myself to a mocha occaisionally, but at Gus' you MUST try the White Hot Choc. Fantastic on a winters evening. The wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli are good to share with a friend too.

Had breakfast for lunch at Gus' today. Terrific location for people watching but my breakfast was poor. Ordered the big breakfast. Asked to swap out the mushrooms for a hashbrown instead and was told I'd have to pay separately for the hashbrown. Didn't bother. When you're paying $20 for a breakfast, they should substitute common items without question. When it... More

Stopped for breakfast at Gus's and was very satisfied with it. Had a tasty latte, a fabulous fresh fruit salad and muesli. A colleague had the French toast (on gluten free) and enjoyed it. Open from 7 and right in the city centre, so accessible and easy. Plenty of seating indoor and out so a reliable place for breakfast.

I usually love Gus', the food is great and quite good value considering what some of the places nearby charge, and the staff are usually on the ball (but definitely not the friendliest in Canberra) but my last visit there was very disappointing. My favourite thing to order is the grilled chicken sandwich, which had always been served with plenty... More
